The Wall 1 year, 12 months agoSince 1862 Charbonnel has been creating inks for engraving and accompanying the development of this magnificent art: we are pleased to see this art becoming popular in a new form alongside traditional engraving on copper or zinc or wood.
Today, anyone can get started using the “tetrapack” technique with Charbonnel water-washable ink, manufactured in Le Mans : perfect to conquer hobbyists 🙂
Find out more during workshops in our beautiful Charbonnel boutique in front of Notre Dame with Léa from KitchenGravure, who popularised this technique. She currently has near 100K followers on instagram 🙂 : A very good opportunity for Charbonnel to keep ahead on engraving referent brand.

The Wall 2 years agoTo all in the London hub: White City Warehouse had offered London hubbers the opportunity to try out the vullow technique until the Easter break. They have some paint left and want to get more proficient in hosting workshops, so they have extended their offer to Colart staff: make your appointment now with Mike and experience vullow yourself !

For anyone who hasn’t taken up this opportunity, PLEASE do!
The feedback I hear has been amazing for example Sarwar says “For the first time in my life, I got completely lost in the painting experience!” Now that’s a recommendation!
It was wonderful to see @sarwarzcolart-com glowing with inspiration as he came back into the Hub with a gorgeous painting of his son!

Those are the responses we’re after !
I have received quite a lot of positive feedback from other colleagues as well and I am curious to hear about everybody’s experience (even if this wasn’t for you). I have seen some artworks coming by that were just amazing !… -
Uauuu, would love to try it! Any other opportunity pls keep us posted 🙂…
-
This Spanish partner is currently in negotiation with vullow to offer the experience in Spain in minimum 5 different locations (unfortunately that will be with a commercial partner therefore more difficult to experience it on donation basis like in White City Warehouse). Will keep you posted once things are final !…

It look super smart Anne, very premium. You can see a lot of time, effort and heart has gone into this! Every time I see that Liquitex neon sign I want one, could be great as a one-off giveaway if you got a replica created. …

Your passion for this project is visible in the displays! They look great, add a lot to the Piscataway environment and represent the W&N and Liquitex brand heritage and journey well! Well done!…

Thank you all for the kind words on the project! It has been so interesting to learn about our history.
I was able to find information on the neon sign when logging the archives. It has to be possibly 20 to 50 years old, but I am leaning more towards the 1970s. It was created with Binney & Smith who owned Liquitex at the time. This was an option for stores to have for a Promotion at the time called University of Liquitex! They also had Clothing, Acrylic Medium charts and Liquitex Inflatables!!… -

Millions of tonnes of clothing, shoes and other textiles end up in landfill every year because very little is sent for recycling .
“The current fashion system uses high volumes of non-renewable resources, including petroleum, extracted to produce clothes that are often used only for a short period of time, after which the materials are largely lost to landfill or incineration. “This system puts pressure on valuable resources such as water, pollutes the environment and degrades ecosystems in addition to creating societal impacts on a global scale.” There are good reasons to seek out alternatives to chucking clothes in the bin – globally the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions, with textile production alone is estimated to release 1.2 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year. Vast amounts of water are also needed to produce the clothes we wear too and the fashion industry is responsible for 20% of global waste water. At the same time we are buying more clothes than ever – the average consumer now buys 60% more clothing than they did 15 years ago. More than two tonnes of clothing are bought each minute in the UK, more than any other country in Europe. Globally, around 56 million tonnes of clothing are bought each year, and this is expected to rise to 93 million tonnes by 2030 and 160 million tonnes by 2050.
"Reuse. Recycle. Rethink — your clothes deserve a second life, not a landfill."
