The Wall 2 years, 1 month agoWe hosted the Colart Board at London Hub yesterday and wrote this on our social channels.
“Our CEO Romain Guinier hosted the Colart Board’s first meeting for 2024 at our London Hub yesterday. It was a privilege to host a presentation attended by our team in London, where we were inspired by insights from our new Chair, Magdalena Gerger, alongside contributions from other board members including Fabio Pedrazzi and Jean-Francois de Saussure and our owner, Jenny Lindén Urnes. Our Chair emphasised the importance of our continued collaboration, transparency, and innovation, to unlock our full potential, driving progress, and strengthening connections with our communities, all while preserving our brand’s premium quality and heritage. As Colart sets its sights on creating positive impacts and using business as a force for good, exciting opportunities await us. “

The Wall 2 years, 1 month agoIn my office, daffodils bloom,
A burst of yellow, chasing gloom.
Their cheerful faces, a joyful sight,
Filling my workspace with pure delight.
What makes me happy, you may ask?
It’s not just one simple task.
Sometimes it’s the smallest things, you see,
That bring a smile, pure and free.
Like laughter shared with a dear friend,
Or a sunny day that seems to never end.
Simple joys that life bestows,
Are the ones that make my happiness grow.
And as we celebrate this special day,
The International Day of Happiness in its sway,
Let’s cherish the moments, big and small,
or happiness lies within us all.

The Wall 2 years, 1 month agoLast week in our Piscataway office we hosted a local art group for a demo and shared some of our archives. We don’t usually hold in-house demos but it was a nice opportunity to connect with people in the community and they were very excited to see our facilities. Thanks to Maria Gottfried for snapping some photos and shooting a brief video.

Funny enough Jimmy, I was discussing only last week…..now that we have better displays for our archives, we should set up some opportunities for our own colleagues too to come along and learn more about our products – old and new. Let’s discuss!…

Great idea, I’ve long thought that Colart should have open workshops/stuidos to help facilitate this type of engagement. Peppercorn rates for resident artists (with an cross-promotional agreement between our brands and the artists “they only use our products and communicate this on socials”). Open to the public to drop in, engage with artists, explore our products and a shop (“exit through the gift shop” IYKYK). Suppose finding the right spot, at low cost, with the right footfall, and the right artists is key… Charbonnel in Paris as a start??? …

Any way we can have real conversations with real people who use and buy our products counts as insight and is essential alongside desk research and PowerPoint charts. Nothing beats meeting the person with the passion to spend on art materials. Would love to hear any gems that came out of this and other ongoing interactions with consumers across all our markets. Nice one Jimmy. …

Millions of tonnes of clothing, shoes and other textiles end up in landfill every year because very little is sent for recycling .
“The current fashion system uses high volumes of non-renewable resources, including petroleum, extracted to produce clothes that are often used only for a short period of time, after which the materials are largely lost to landfill or incineration. “This system puts pressure on valuable resources such as water, pollutes the environment and degrades ecosystems in addition to creating societal impacts on a global scale.” There are good reasons to seek out alternatives to chucking clothes in the bin – globally the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions, with textile production alone is estimated to release 1.2 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year. Vast amounts of water are also needed to produce the clothes we wear too and the fashion industry is responsible for 20% of global waste water. At the same time we are buying more clothes than ever – the average consumer now buys 60% more clothing than they did 15 years ago. More than two tonnes of clothing are bought each minute in the UK, more than any other country in Europe. Globally, around 56 million tonnes of clothing are bought each year, and this is expected to rise to 93 million tonnes by 2030 and 160 million tonnes by 2050.
"Reuse. Recycle. Rethink — your clothes deserve a second life, not a landfill."
