The Wall 2 years, 1 month agoHere in Kidderminster we celebrated Red Nose Day with a Bake off special. Staff very generously donated home baked cakes for the Bake Off Challenge and others purchased cakes which have been sold to raise funds for the charity. In total we have raised £72.30 so far for Red Nose Day. The difficult task of picking the best baker on the day fell to Shane, Julie and Jan who chose Lianne Wells’ cheesecake as the winner (though any of the bakes was worthy of a Paul Hollywood handshake.) Shane presented Lianne with a certificate and Easter egg for her cheesecake.

The Wall 2 years, 1 month agoIn the past month in the UK , we were partners of choice, receiving visits at the hub from students from the Royal College of Art; including emerging artist Hetti Innis, to research materiality and colour in their work . We also then had students from the UAL Central St Martins, working on their Chroma project, where they use only Colart brands, post the knowledge transfer partnership. Then, working with the UCL Slade school of art and our archives, providing in store demos together on colour mixing at Cass in Islington last Saturday. It was a fantastic opportunity to work with the Slade in their flagship store, shown here with its beautifully designed layout highlighting contemporary artists, some of which are in the current Chromascopic exhibition at APT. The colour mixing demos really were through the eyes of the artists from the Slade and the other images are just very imaginative and innovative outcomes at the PMAM gallery with the CSM students from their Chroma project.
Seeding brand with emerging artists, artists and retailers.

The Wall 2 years, 1 month agoOn March 4th, Romain and Toby got to get their paint on!
As both got to experience portrait painting with a little help of a tool called vullow. vullow is a software that turns anyone into an artist. You simply upload a photo you\’d like to paint into their software, and it will project it in six layers of light onto a surface (like a canvas). Then you just paint wherever the light is and create your own portrait painting!
In order to create their bespoke color palettes, they teamed up with Liquitex (and thanks to our I&D team in Le Mans) to create 30 unique and beautiful colors.
For Toby it was his second time and he got to experience the improvements that were made in the software and consumer experience over the last 2 years. For Romain it was his first vullow with already a very encouraging result.
For all London hubbers: if you\’d like to experience vullow yourself, book your free slot now! Mike at White City Warehouse (formerly known as Elephant Space) has made it available free of charge for all hubbers to experience yourself. Try it out and let me know what you think !

ps. An email by the well-being committee will be send out soon to all London based colleagues with more details. …

Millions of tonnes of clothing, shoes and other textiles end up in landfill every year because very little is sent for recycling .
“The current fashion system uses high volumes of non-renewable resources, including petroleum, extracted to produce clothes that are often used only for a short period of time, after which the materials are largely lost to landfill or incineration. “This system puts pressure on valuable resources such as water, pollutes the environment and degrades ecosystems in addition to creating societal impacts on a global scale.” There are good reasons to seek out alternatives to chucking clothes in the bin – globally the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions, with textile production alone is estimated to release 1.2 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year. Vast amounts of water are also needed to produce the clothes we wear too and the fashion industry is responsible for 20% of global waste water. At the same time we are buying more clothes than ever – the average consumer now buys 60% more clothing than they did 15 years ago. More than two tonnes of clothing are bought each minute in the UK, more than any other country in Europe. Globally, around 56 million tonnes of clothing are bought each year, and this is expected to rise to 93 million tonnes by 2030 and 160 million tonnes by 2050.
"Reuse. Recycle. Rethink — your clothes deserve a second life, not a landfill."
