The Wall 2 years, 1 month agoIn November(ish) last year, Mrs Williams from Brixham C of E Primary School reached out to me to see if we had any charity art materials available for her school children. Thanks to our great charity supporting initiative, led by the amazing Ajita, I was able to oblige.
Mrs Williams recently sent this message and I thought it would be nice to share…
The Reception Class at Brixham C of E Primary have been learning about collaboration and the value of working together as a team.
The pupils are aged between 4 and 5 years old and their learning focus was to create an alphabet canvas.
Each child was given a letter of the alphabet and painted a picture in line with it using the Liquitex Acrylic Colart was able to donate to us.
I hope you enjoy the masterpiece that was created once all their individual works were collaborated.
Best Regards,
Miss Smoothly, Mrs Evans & Mrs Williams
This really made my day and hopefully you will enjoy it too.
Inspiring every artist!!!

The Wall 2 years, 1 month agoYesterday in the UK we had the opportunity to have a very private view of the exhibition, Chromascopic, curated by Laurence Noga and Ben Gooding at the Artist Perpetuity trust Gallery (APT). On until the 17th March it is showing the work of many great international artists including; Sir Frank Bowling, Ian Davenport, the late Jane Harris and Mali Morris; whose work many you will have seen on show in Regent Street and Bond street as part of the Royal Academy Summer exhibition (shown here). It is a very exciting show with a focus on painting (through the eyes of the artist) and where more than 500 people attended the opening in the South East London gallery and studios; a district in London which is also home to 3 top art schools and three of the most important galleries in the UK. We were fortunate to have a curators tour with both Laurence Noga and Mali Morris, who is seen here explaining the nature of her beautiful piece to Romain.
Huge thanks to Charlotte Caton and Jo Sass for their collaboration in supporting this wonderful exhibition, which will also host workshops for art students and schools, using only Winsor & Newton materials and delivered by artists.

This looks great, nice work, congratulations to all involved. I really like the initiative for W&N to support workshops in a gallery space, supporting inspiration where inspiration should be peaking! Great idea. Would love to see the outcome of these workshops, I quite like the idea of our brands driving a change in the quiet fundamentals of a gallery space – make some noise, make some mess and express…. …

Thank you both and yes totally agree, the chance to experiment with materials in this context with some of the artists shown is a fantastic opportunity to see new uses of existing materials…

Millions of tonnes of clothing, shoes and other textiles end up in landfill every year because very little is sent for recycling .
“The current fashion system uses high volumes of non-renewable resources, including petroleum, extracted to produce clothes that are often used only for a short period of time, after which the materials are largely lost to landfill or incineration. “This system puts pressure on valuable resources such as water, pollutes the environment and degrades ecosystems in addition to creating societal impacts on a global scale.” There are good reasons to seek out alternatives to chucking clothes in the bin – globally the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions, with textile production alone is estimated to release 1.2 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year. Vast amounts of water are also needed to produce the clothes we wear too and the fashion industry is responsible for 20% of global waste water. At the same time we are buying more clothes than ever – the average consumer now buys 60% more clothing than they did 15 years ago. More than two tonnes of clothing are bought each minute in the UK, more than any other country in Europe. Globally, around 56 million tonnes of clothing are bought each year, and this is expected to rise to 93 million tonnes by 2030 and 160 million tonnes by 2050.
"Reuse. Recycle. Rethink — your clothes deserve a second life, not a landfill."
