The Wall 2 years, 2 months agoIt has been a busy January with artist and consumer engagement in the UK. Working with all our audiences; fromย immersion training with Hobbycraft , materials research with some of the top tier biggest UK art schools that included; UCL , UAL and UCA, ending the month with online training for Cass store staff across the UK. We looked at all categories; demystifying mediums, the anatomy of brushes, exploring historical and contemporary watercolour techniques, experimenting with the extensive range of different inks, down to colour theories that inspire artists and retailers. It has been a good start to the year, making us relevant to our retailers and by differentiating the audiences and contexts, provides opportunities to expand our engagement and seed our brands.

Incredible Town Hall (and minimal tech issues)!!! It was wonderful to see Colart foster inclusivity by ensuring that all employees had the opportunity to experience the event, which marked a significant moment for Colart. And congratulations to all those who contributed to Frankfurt and to those who contributed to the outstanding work that was showcased. Well done!…

The Wall 2 years, 3 months agoIt was out with the old and in with the new for Rock and Bird this week. One of my Fine Art Retailers based in the picture postcard seaside town of North Berwick, approx. 25 miles from Edinburgh. They have now delisted any remaining loose colour from Daler and added Galeria and Professional Acrylic to their Colart, and in particular, W&N listing.

Millions of tonnes of clothing, shoes and other textiles end up in landfill every year because very little is sent for recycling .
“The current fashion system uses high volumes of non-renewable resources, including petroleum, extracted to produce clothes that are often used only for a short period of time, after which the materials are largely lost to landfill or incineration. “This system puts pressure on valuable resources such as water, pollutes the environment and degrades ecosystems in addition to creating societal impacts on a global scale.” There are good reasons to seek out alternatives to chucking clothes in the bin – globally the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions, with textile production alone is estimated to release 1.2 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year. Vast amounts of water are also needed to produce the clothes we wear too and the fashion industry is responsible for 20% of global waste water. At the same time we are buying more clothes than ever – the average consumer now buys 60% more clothing than they did 15 years ago. More than two tonnes of clothing are bought each minute in the UK, more than any other country in Europe. Globally, around 56 million tonnes of clothing are bought each year, and this is expected to rise to 93 million tonnes by 2030 and 160 million tonnes by 2050.
"Reuse. Recycle. Rethink — your clothes deserve a second life, not a landfill."

A super-fast start Steph. One that fully supports the UK in its delivery of commercial and brand objectives. Great engagement through the funnel from leading institutions to key retail partner, enabling all touch points to be better informed and inspired to be advocates of our Colart house of leading creative brands. Great work! Best, Anthony…
So fantastic to see the incredible sessions that you deliver to our key retailers, always putting our brands at the core and centre of everything we do! The sessions are always so well received, praised and result in the retailer in-store and head office teams becoming more and more invested in our brands, our stories and our materials. Thank you Steph!…
Brilliant efforts as always Steph, and I love the watercolour prepped image at the end, which reminds me that it’s not just the delivery of these training sessions themselves, but also the huge amount of work that goes in beforehand to ensure that the result is as seamless as possible, You covered a lot of ground in January, amazing! …
