The Wall 2 years, 3 months agoHello there,
I thought to share here a great feedback a consumers provided has after receiving assistance from Ann McCarthy. Well done Ann, great customer service story!
“I bought a Winsor & Newton watercolor brush from Jerry’s Artarama, the first brush that I’ve bought from your company. The quality was poor, the brush would not hold a point. I contacted Jerry’s and received what was basically a “non reply”, a cut and paste from their website about how I could pay to return the brush.
I decided to contact Winsor & Newton directly, not asking for anything but just to let you know about the issue. I really wasn’t expecting that much when I contacted Winsor & Newton, maybe another standard reply, but that was not what I received. Ann went over and above to find out what the issue was and then to work it through to resolution. I received an immediate reply from her to my initial email. I had included pictures of the brush with my email, but she needed something specific so I sent that. When it was not exactly what was needed, she quickly replied and very nicely asked me to resend, which I did. She then took the information to the product manager who determined that the brush quality was not good. Ann then reached back out to me to tell me a new brush would be sent after being checked carefully for quality.
It took several days to get this resolved, and Ann always was responsive, professional and friendly, and seemed to really care that I received the best customer service. It is so unusual to find this level of customer service these days. Winsor & Newton is fortunate to have an employee of Ann’s caliber, I hope the company appreciates her! I initially had decided I would not buy any more Winsor & Newton products, but after my experience with Ann, I definitely will be a continuing customer because I know the company stands behind its products and cares about its customers.”

The Wall 2 years, 3 months agoCan’t pretend I wasn’t flattered and pleased to receive this Instagram invitation from one of my favourite programmes to apply to take part in Sky Arts Artist of the Year. Not for me, I’m not in the same league but it’s so nice to be asked and just goes to show we can all make art.

The Wall 2 years, 3 months agoWas listening during the weekend Rick Rubin interviewing Nick Cave in the podcast below. I thought would be good to share it as is very inspirational ( at least for me). 2hrs interview where I find particularly the last 45 mins really beautiful as become more personal and reflects a lot the way I feel about things. I hope you enjoy.

Millions of tonnes of clothing, shoes and other textiles end up in landfill every year because very little is sent for recycling .
“The current fashion system uses high volumes of non-renewable resources, including petroleum, extracted to produce clothes that are often used only for a short period of time, after which the materials are largely lost to landfill or incineration. “This system puts pressure on valuable resources such as water, pollutes the environment and degrades ecosystems in addition to creating societal impacts on a global scale.” There are good reasons to seek out alternatives to chucking clothes in the bin – globally the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions, with textile production alone is estimated to release 1.2 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year. Vast amounts of water are also needed to produce the clothes we wear too and the fashion industry is responsible for 20% of global waste water. At the same time we are buying more clothes than ever – the average consumer now buys 60% more clothing than they did 15 years ago. More than two tonnes of clothing are bought each minute in the UK, more than any other country in Europe. Globally, around 56 million tonnes of clothing are bought each year, and this is expected to rise to 93 million tonnes by 2030 and 160 million tonnes by 2050.
"Reuse. Recycle. Rethink — your clothes deserve a second life, not a landfill."

Stefano thank you so much for sharing this! And thank you Ann for the commitment and dedication to this customer too. This entirely supports the W&N new brand positioning. If we are authentically to see the world ‘through the eyes of the artist’ we need to deliver on it in terms of customer experience – it would be a very hollow claim otherwise. Great work!…
😉…
Well done Ann. By showing the end user the respect they deserved and ensuring their negative experience was turned into a great big positive, you’ve managed to promote our brands, company and values in such an effective way…Absolutely brilliant!…
that is such a great story – it’s care and attention like that, which is so important to building and sustaining the brand. Well done Ann, you really approached the issue through the eyes of the artist!…
Great story, thanks Stefano….very important to take much more care on these quality issues and even more when the artist is facing a “non human” standard feed back. On top, I would emphasize to take care on our brushes quality issues as I also met (several) French artists who stopped using our serie 7 because loss of quality for this iconic (normally) top quality brush range. …
Thank you Thierry! we always follow up on consumer complaints and inform the relevant department …
