We are absolutely thrilled to share the incredible Charity donations that have taken place at Crown this year!
Starting with our Christmas Jumper Day on the 7th of December, so many took part by wearing their best Christmas jumpers and fancy dress and we managed to raise £50 for Save the Children. This charity supports children in the UK and around the world to keep them safe, healthy, and learning. Thank you to everyone who took part and for helping us making a difference!
For many years we have collected for local animal charities in our canteen, this has continued this year with a growing collection of animal food and toys which will be donated to local animal charities. A huge thank you to Amanda Thrower for organising the collection and to everyone who has donated food and toys to the animals.
A special thank you to Tina Rumbal for suggesting the idea and organising the donation point for ‘Mission Christmas’ – Cash for Kids. Absolute Radio and Wickes DIY stores have teamed up to create the new donation program – ‘Mission Christmas’ to donate toys to children from less fortunate circumstances to have a better Christmas! We have received an overwhelming amount of donations from our factory from books, to teddys, to makeup to board games which Tina will kindly take to our local Wickes store today. The whole team has contributed to make a positive change in our community. Well done everyone!
Once again, thank you to everyone at Crown for helping to create a brighter Christmas for the Children and the Animals this year!

The Wall 2 years, 4 months agoChristmas spirit in Minehead
The Minehead team are a generous bunch and always thinking of those less fortunate than themselves.
Over the past couple of weeks, we have been collecting for our local food bank “The West Somerset Food Cupboard”.
This charity has been providing emergency food from the Parish Church of St. Michael the Archangel, Alcombe since 2007.
The current area that they serve includes Alcombe, Minehead, Dunster, Carhampton, Timberscombe, Porlock and everywhere in between.
The food is donated by local people, checked, and packed by volunteers, and distributed supporting someone through a particular challenge.
We at Minehead wish these people a “Happy Christmas” and hope our little contribution makes life a little easier.

What a great contribution to the local community. This time of year we all spend far to much money on goodies to fill our own cupboards and forget that for some it is difficult to even know where the next meal is coming from. This is not just about giving someone a warm meal in their belly it also lets them know they are not alone and people do care, It also provides the giver with a warm feeling in their heart and makes them feel better about themselves. So many of the Colart Family have stumped up and given what they can afford to assorted charities across the world, what a wonderful Group we are!. Well done to you all, enjoy your Festive break with family and friends and wishing you all a Happy and Healthy Christmas and New Year!.…

Millions of tonnes of clothing, shoes and other textiles end up in landfill every year because very little is sent for recycling .
“The current fashion system uses high volumes of non-renewable resources, including petroleum, extracted to produce clothes that are often used only for a short period of time, after which the materials are largely lost to landfill or incineration. “This system puts pressure on valuable resources such as water, pollutes the environment and degrades ecosystems in addition to creating societal impacts on a global scale.” There are good reasons to seek out alternatives to chucking clothes in the bin – globally the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions, with textile production alone is estimated to release 1.2 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year. Vast amounts of water are also needed to produce the clothes we wear too and the fashion industry is responsible for 20% of global waste water. At the same time we are buying more clothes than ever – the average consumer now buys 60% more clothing than they did 15 years ago. More than two tonnes of clothing are bought each minute in the UK, more than any other country in Europe. Globally, around 56 million tonnes of clothing are bought each year, and this is expected to rise to 93 million tonnes by 2030 and 160 million tonnes by 2050.
"Reuse. Recycle. Rethink — your clothes deserve a second life, not a landfill."
