The Wall 2 years, 4 months agoLast week we saw the opening of the Liquitex Big walls and windows now in its 10th year. This site specific art collaboration, working with Central st Martins UAL and Cass art is a fantastic opportunity to show the full potential of our materials in this contemporary context. Why is this important? Because this project offers insights into the use of our materials in the most innovative and extraordinary ways and this year was no exception. With the arrival of Liquitex fluids the wall piece created by Emily Jackson earlier this year at Camberwell UAL, showed us the potential of scale and the importance of viscosity and the relevance of fluids to the artist. Last week at Central st Martins, Geneve Chu and Alex Free showed us just what can be achieved using Liquitex inks in both sculpture and installation; their pieces each took us beyond the expectation of what can be created when using Liquitex acrylic ink. This project and our materials research has also made us partners of choice with both CSM and Cass, manifested first in the invitation to partner the knowledge transfer with the UAL and also with Cass in driving traffic to store to brand and to train their staff on the quality and integrity of our materials specific to our own USPs.
The stunning pieces are on show until January and in the words of the Deans at CSM UAL it is another triumph.

The Wall 2 years, 4 months agoDuring the Disability Week, we organized a duo-day operation which consisted of a Colart employee welcoming a person with a disability for a day.
A great experience of exchange, of openness where 10 duos were formed.
This is the second year in France we have signed up for this national operation.

Yes, it was lovely to launch this Leadership 2.0 training in a new environment for me and meeting new people and already building new connections and collaborations as a result. There was a tremendous amount of positive energy being fostered and I returned from Frankfurt re-energised that we have both the people and the tools to succeed on this new journey together.… -

My cousin (super proud of her) recently did a Tedx talk on this. Its a short 10mins Tedx – pls have a listen and do share your thoughts
Thanks 🙂

Great points, thanks for sharing Bhavna! I personally do find it quite uncomfortable at times to ‘be seen’, essential for networking I know, but can be so tiring too.
Well done to your cousin, this was a perfect reminder that came just at the right time!…-

Thanks for sharing Bhavna very inspirational, there is a problem with some organisations not listening to women and increasing your exposure and networking is so important, (I’ve been watching the Covid Inquiry and many statements were made that during various meetings the female civil servants were ignored and talked over.(I hope we are better at ColArt…

The Covid Inquiry has been shocking for this. I fully agree we are definitely not like this at ColArt…

Thanks for sharing and kudos to your cousin. I for one am thankful that in the past 2 decades the old adage of ‘seen and not heard’, ‘keep your head down and work hard’ are no longer commonplace anywhere in my life – my house (I have a teenage daughter), my peer group or workplace at Colart.
There are lots of helpful tips to be ‘seen’. In particular how we can be cheerleaders for our teams so let’s take the first step and up strategic network at colart, to make it easier for those who find it hard. We can build ourselves a ‘new world club’ we have some great female role models in our business in senior positions so lets embrace that and come together to champion other women in the place and provide the platforms for them to be seen. I love the ‘pay it forward’, I recently met with a lady in a senior role at Deutche Bank in NYC on this exact topic and she said the same, she offered to mentor me, and has introduced me to a new network 😊.
So, ladies who is interested in a ‘new world club’ LMK and I’ll be happy to facilitate.

Finally got around to watching it and it is really interesting that exposure gets you further than hard work. I think someone doing the right work with the right exposure will definitely be noticed, but exposure without putting in the work only gets you half way. So it is all about the balance.
With this (and previous) comments in mind I will reassess how I can better support talent in Colart by giving them more exposure (high fives, recommending them internally, getting them on project teams) and support (mentoring for example). Due to all the work we are trying to get done, this can sometimes be neglected. So this video is definitely a good reminder!
Well done to your cousing Bhavna!…-

Hi Bhavna,
Thanks for having shared and well done to your cousin! This is very inspirational!
I take it as point for the future !
Indeed… hard work is not a big enough value which works itself to develop a pro-life, and which I
believed since a while.
Exposure could be out of comfort zone, but I also believe this is something workable,
as long as we want to put actions in place to improve, and open opportunities,
even if this start “small” by “small” steps…that’s still remaining a start.
As my father is always saying : “Rome was not built in one day “!…-
Bhavna Savani replied 2 years, 4 months ago
Thanks Carole and glad it has been inspirational and a good reminder for those small steps…

The Wall 2 years, 5 months agoThis week is disability week in France.
In this context, Colart offered its employees “awareness training” in French sign language.
This language is gestural and visual, used for deaf people to communicate.
Sign language is the only linguistic mode truly appropriate for deaf people.
Colart employees learned alphabet letters and some simple expressions of everyday life.
The two sessions were quickly full. Also, Colart will propose this experience next year.

Millions of tonnes of clothing, shoes and other textiles end up in landfill every year because very little is sent for recycling .
“The current fashion system uses high volumes of non-renewable resources, including petroleum, extracted to produce clothes that are often used only for a short period of time, after which the materials are largely lost to landfill or incineration. “This system puts pressure on valuable resources such as water, pollutes the environment and degrades ecosystems in addition to creating societal impacts on a global scale.” There are good reasons to seek out alternatives to chucking clothes in the bin – globally the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions, with textile production alone is estimated to release 1.2 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year. Vast amounts of water are also needed to produce the clothes we wear too and the fashion industry is responsible for 20% of global waste water. At the same time we are buying more clothes than ever – the average consumer now buys 60% more clothing than they did 15 years ago. More than two tonnes of clothing are bought each minute in the UK, more than any other country in Europe. Globally, around 56 million tonnes of clothing are bought each year, and this is expected to rise to 93 million tonnes by 2030 and 160 million tonnes by 2050.
"Reuse. Recycle. Rethink — your clothes deserve a second life, not a landfill."
