The Wall 2 years, 6 months agoShout out to my new Eastern Region co-pilot, Jennifer Torres! As a new hire, and the new Retail Activation Specialist in the East, she joined me today at her first field event, RISD’s Annual Vendor Splendor event! The event was incredibly organized and very well attended! We gave out 400 samples of Heavy Body to students and featured product demonstrations with Liquitex Basics Acrylic Fluids, HB, Acrylic Gouache and acrylic mediums! She was a huge help, and I’m grateful to have her at my side! Cheers!

The Wall 2 years, 6 months agoColart Kidderminster have been supporting local charity, H.E.L.P. (a local charity who support homeless people and people in need within Wyre Forest) and this week we donated £115 cash to H.E.L.P. from funds raised through staff sales via our products charity table in our Goldthorn Gallery. Staff have also donated food and baby clothing, which was handed over on Monday evening by Liza Kindon and Frances Holden (seen here absolutely rocking the obligatory food prep hair net and pinnie.) Both ladies spent several hours with the charity, Frances, using her culinary skills in the kitchen helping to cook hot evening meals and Liza in front of house serving those in need with their chosen meals. Both Fran and Liza provided an absolutely invaluable service using their Colart charity hours and others from Kidderminster will also be spending an evening with H.E.L.P. to aid this very worth cause.

Millions of tonnes of clothing, shoes and other textiles end up in landfill every year because very little is sent for recycling .
“The current fashion system uses high volumes of non-renewable resources, including petroleum, extracted to produce clothes that are often used only for a short period of time, after which the materials are largely lost to landfill or incineration. “This system puts pressure on valuable resources such as water, pollutes the environment and degrades ecosystems in addition to creating societal impacts on a global scale.” There are good reasons to seek out alternatives to chucking clothes in the bin – globally the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions, with textile production alone is estimated to release 1.2 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year. Vast amounts of water are also needed to produce the clothes we wear too and the fashion industry is responsible for 20% of global waste water. At the same time we are buying more clothes than ever – the average consumer now buys 60% more clothing than they did 15 years ago. More than two tonnes of clothing are bought each minute in the UK, more than any other country in Europe. Globally, around 56 million tonnes of clothing are bought each year, and this is expected to rise to 93 million tonnes by 2030 and 160 million tonnes by 2050.
"Reuse. Recycle. Rethink — your clothes deserve a second life, not a landfill."
