The Wall 2 years, 6 months agoOnce upon a time, before the days of mass produced hotel art, department stores actually sold fine art and you could buy it on lay away. And for horror movie fans, I love that the incredible Vincent Price curated an amazing collection for Sears and Roebuck.

The Wall 2 years, 6 months agoDuring the 7th-8th of October together with a Polish sales team, we had an opportunity to attend the 34th International Festival of Comics and Games in Łódź, Poland. We were proud to support this event with our art supplies, including Winsor & Newton, Snazaroo, and Conte à Paris brands, which became partners of the festival.
The International Festival of Comics and Games has been a celebrated tradition since its inception in 1991 and has since grown into the most prominent comics and gaming event not only in Poland but also in Central-Eastern Europe. For instance, the 30th edition of the festival attracted over 20,000 attendees. Anticipation is high for the 34th edition of this fantastic event, and details will be unveiled soon.
At the festival, we set up a booth where we showcased and sold our Winsor & Newton, Snazaroo, Lefranc Bourgeois, and Conte à Paris products. Our booth received a good amount of foot traffic, with many visitors showing interest in our products and making purchases.
During the festival, there were five drawing masterclasses including a dedicated workshop on how to use Promarkers. It was hosted by talented artists: Aleksandra Frankowska, Robert Trojanowski, Roch Urbaniak, Megan Uosiu, and Rafał Szłapa. Around 200 participants, including the artists themselves, used Winsor & Newton products from the Graphic Art category. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with many people expressing their satisfaction with our products. 🥰
Throughout the two-day festival, Winsor & Newton videos, as well as Snazaroo and Conte à Paris logos, were displayed on screens throughout the event area every 5-10 minutes. This provided excellent visibility for our brands.
In summary, the event was a great success, and we were the sole art supplies stand and official partner of the festival.
I want to express our gratitude to the Polish Sales Team for their excellent collaboration and hard work!

The Wall 2 years, 6 months agoIsn\’t teamwork just the best.
Upon arriving at the Crown brush factory in Lowestoft early this morning, the team found what could only be described as a minor catastrophe. It would appear that over the weekend the water chiller in our canteen had sprung a leak! A big enough leak that not only had water made it\’s way across the canteen floor, the factory floor, down the stairs, into the print-room and beyond. It had also made its way through our concrete floor! Below the canteen is our P&D department and what was discovered there was a ceiling which had partially collapsed that was dripping with water from the floor above and all the mess and debris that you could imagine would be associated with it. Directly onto our stock, our machinery, our tables, floor etc.
A relatively poor start to the day would be an understatement. However, I am so very proud at what next…Without request or suggestion, the whole Crown team got well and truly stuck in, as one-with a shared goal, to get the site back to a place where normal operations could continue ASAP. Mopping, sweeping, wiping, drying, moving, testing, reworking…A great team effort from everyone, celebrated with macarons and muffins as just a small token of recognition and a \’thank you\’ to all.
All employees are safe. All stock is recoverable. All machinery is operable. The site is back in business (and in record time).
We are fit to fight another day.
Well done and BIG THANK YOU team Crown.

What an amazing story. However, I am not surprised. When making the Lowestoft factory film the entire team are the empitome of “team work”. The film demonstrates this in every way. If you haven’t seen it, watch it …. https://www.colart.com/en/our-people/careers/…

Millions of tonnes of clothing, shoes and other textiles end up in landfill every year because very little is sent for recycling .
“The current fashion system uses high volumes of non-renewable resources, including petroleum, extracted to produce clothes that are often used only for a short period of time, after which the materials are largely lost to landfill or incineration. “This system puts pressure on valuable resources such as water, pollutes the environment and degrades ecosystems in addition to creating societal impacts on a global scale.” There are good reasons to seek out alternatives to chucking clothes in the bin – globally the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions, with textile production alone is estimated to release 1.2 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year. Vast amounts of water are also needed to produce the clothes we wear too and the fashion industry is responsible for 20% of global waste water. At the same time we are buying more clothes than ever – the average consumer now buys 60% more clothing than they did 15 years ago. More than two tonnes of clothing are bought each minute in the UK, more than any other country in Europe. Globally, around 56 million tonnes of clothing are bought each year, and this is expected to rise to 93 million tonnes by 2030 and 160 million tonnes by 2050.
"Reuse. Recycle. Rethink — your clothes deserve a second life, not a landfill."
