The Wall 2 years, 7 months agoI am happy to tell you all and post pictures from the 5th Swiss USK Symposium, Zurich. On the three days of the Urban Skechter event we had a collaboration with Papeterie Zumstein, where we were at the Freie Schule Zurich on the first day, which was the event location for all the creative people and the course leaders. Very well-known course instructors took part in the event, e.g. Juliana Aschwanden-Vilaรงa Switzerland,Darman Angir IndonesiaMarina Grechanik IsraelAlex Hillkurtz FranceJohanna Krimmel GermanyLapin SpainSanti Sallรฉs SpainNeil Whitehead EnglandOn Friday and Saturday we had a stand in front of the Zumstein Rennweg Zurich branch, a very busy shopping street in the middle of Zurich. Our colleague Reiner Behrens was there as an artist.#reiner_behrend’s InstagramIt’s wonderful to have a colleague like Reiner, who is also a very versatile artist. We were able to inspire a lot of people with our Winsor & Newton watercolor range, and we received great praise for the fineliners and watercolor pencils.I am of the opinion that we use this contact with our end consumers much moremust, especially with such an outstanding colleague like Reiner, he is a strong brand ambassador for Colart. Experiencing the conversations and the enthusiasm for our products was a very enriching experience. Many thanks to Ellena Wรถrner and Reiner Behrends for their support

The Wall 2 years, 7 months agoThe International Team has established contact with our partners in Morocco, and we are relieved to report that they, along with their families, are safe Their location in Casablanca is distant from the areas most severely impacted by recent events.
From a business standpoint, our partners are currently evaluating the situation. However, it is probable that we will see reduced sales in the affected regions, particularly in the case of school sales.
We have extended our thoughts and support to our partners during this challenging time.
Furthermore, Paul Schrotti, the CEO of Lindengruppen, has reassured us that none of our Group members have been directly affected by these events.

The Wall 2 years, 7 months agoHello, everyone –
My colleague Maria Gottfried and I spent two days in NYC last week attending the BILD Expo – a free event presented by B&H focusing on photo, video, and audio creativity. The Expo featured over 130 brands showcasing the latest tech, plus live presentations/Q&A sessions by 60+ industry speakers (everyone from award-winning photographers to social media influencers).
It was a great opportunity for us to โtalk shopโ with gear manufacturers, experience live demos on tools and techniques, and be inspired by creatives sharing unique perspectives of their craft.
Some important points that we took away were:
- Be empathetic to tell a better, more authentic story
- The same script doesnโt work for everyone / be open, ask questions
- Move around, work different angles (can apply to most things, really)
- Itโs NOT about the gear or formal training, but having the passion to start, to create
- Have patience, be tenacious
- Do what you canโt
If interested, videos of Main Stage keynote speakers (from both days) are available for anyone to watch at this link: https://www.bildexpo.com
Have a great week.

The Wall 2 years, 7 months agoDelighted to confirm that as of this week, we now have over half a million artists subscribed to the Winsor & Newton mailing list.
- 23% larger than the same time last year.
- 178% larger than 2019 (pre-pandemic).
Fundamental to this growth has been our strategy to develop relevant, value-add content incentives to attract prospective artists into the brand and in exchange, provide them with learning and resource materials to support them in their personal creative journey.
This would not have been possible without strong cross-functional collaboration – combining skills in brand, content, web, paid media, and consumer-lifecycle marketing to achieve a shared goal.
A huge thank you and kudos to Charlotte Blanc, Lauren Oliver, Joe Davis, Jo Sass, Tom Ball, Tom French, and Stephanie Eldred.
Do I spy 1 million round the corner?!

Millions of tonnes of clothing, shoes and other textiles end up in landfill every year because very little is sent for recycling .
“The current fashion system uses high volumes of non-renewable resources, including petroleum, extracted to produce clothes that are often used only for a short period of time, after which the materials are largely lost to landfill or incineration. “This system puts pressure on valuable resources such as water, pollutes the environment and degrades ecosystems in addition to creating societal impacts on a global scale.” There are good reasons to seek out alternatives to chucking clothes in the bin – globally the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions, with textile production alone is estimated to release 1.2 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year. Vast amounts of water are also needed to produce the clothes we wear too and the fashion industry is responsible for 20% of global waste water. At the same time we are buying more clothes than ever – the average consumer now buys 60% more clothing than they did 15 years ago. More than two tonnes of clothing are bought each minute in the UK, more than any other country in Europe. Globally, around 56 million tonnes of clothing are bought each year, and this is expected to rise to 93 million tonnes by 2030 and 160 million tonnes by 2050.
"Reuse. Recycle. Rethink — your clothes deserve a second life, not a landfill."
