The Wall 2 years, 7 months agoIt was so exciting to support the artist Orlanda Broom as she made her mural for Hospital Rooms (HR), using only Galeria paint and mediums, on the Rosebud Ward – the first HR project with a focus on sustainability. This is what she had to say about the experience in her newsletter this weekend:
‘I’m delighted to share some images from the recently completed Hospital Rooms project that I am proud to be have been a part of. The ethos of the charity is to bring art into mental health hospitals to improve and transform these spaces.
After visiting the NHS Rosebud Unit in Kent, along with four other artists, each of us held workshops to get to know and consult with the service users and staff. This particular project also aimed to focus on sustainability with each artist having environmental themes at the core of their work and also in our practical approach to travel, materials used, etc.
Working on-site was unlike anything I’ve done before. I wanted the murals to act as an opening into another space, a landscape that would allow for imagination and a connection to nature. For me personally, it has been a wonderful and fulfilling experience. Winsor & Newton were kind enough to sponsor, supplying paint and art materials, as well as making this short film featuring the project at Rosebud. Further features and photos on the W&N website.’

The Wall 2 years, 7 months agoAfter the pension reform, it was important for people over the age of 55 to be able to meet a specialist informing them of their rights (date of departure and estimated amount of the pension).
This is how nearly 60 people were able to benefit from an individual interview with Gilles Bouvet, pension advisor at Malakoff Humanis.
People appreciated this initiative, which provides all the answers to the complex subject of retirement.

The Wall 2 years, 7 months agoTaking the opportunity that our colleague Lily is currently on a well-deserved vacation, I will step into marketing shoes and do some internal PR.I encourage you to take a look at the photos below. We present our stand, prepared for the annual meeting of Urban Sketchers Poland; and a few more shots from the event. It took place almost 2 weeks ago, but Irek and his helpers still live with memories of an intense and very fruitful meeting. The meeting was attended by over 150 people who had the opportunity to try many of our great Winsor & Newton products. Our friend artist Justyna Woynowska also presented some of them by preparing sample sketches with gouache, watercolor, crayons, pencils, etc.
The whole thing looked great, don’t you agree with me?
Many thanks to Lily for coordinating the preparations for USK 2023, and to Irek (and Daria, and Krzysztof – our helpers), who bravely represented Colart and the great Winsor&Newton brand!

Millions of tonnes of clothing, shoes and other textiles end up in landfill every year because very little is sent for recycling .
“The current fashion system uses high volumes of non-renewable resources, including petroleum, extracted to produce clothes that are often used only for a short period of time, after which the materials are largely lost to landfill or incineration. “This system puts pressure on valuable resources such as water, pollutes the environment and degrades ecosystems in addition to creating societal impacts on a global scale.” There are good reasons to seek out alternatives to chucking clothes in the bin – globally the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions, with textile production alone is estimated to release 1.2 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year. Vast amounts of water are also needed to produce the clothes we wear too and the fashion industry is responsible for 20% of global waste water. At the same time we are buying more clothes than ever – the average consumer now buys 60% more clothing than they did 15 years ago. More than two tonnes of clothing are bought each minute in the UK, more than any other country in Europe. Globally, around 56 million tonnes of clothing are bought each year, and this is expected to rise to 93 million tonnes by 2030 and 160 million tonnes by 2050.
"Reuse. Recycle. Rethink — your clothes deserve a second life, not a landfill."
