    Why do we love Liquitex?

Because it continues to seeks to innovate. Liquitex basics fluids in our latest BWW project has been a triumph.

Liquitex responds to its roots , its legacy; the inventor of water based acrylic, a true invention and innovation, something to be so proud of. For art, artists and art history, the impact this has had on the art world is enormous, it fueled great movements in art history such as; abstract expressionism and pop art and has continued to inform ever since. From a local perspective, an excellent example of this is in our Liquitex Big Walls and Windows project, now in its 10th year, Initiated by the Dean of Central St Martins with Sarah Clark, this project has gone from strength to strength expanding across the UAL working in collaboration with our retailers to make us relevant to all our audiences and in particular our retailers and emerging professional artists. The first of this years projects is now open to the public at Camberwell school of art UAL created by Emily Jackson titled,’ Walk Way’ on show until the 28th May.

    Dear colleagues,

    Happy Friday,

Here to announce the launch of a new B2B Trade site!

I am pleased to announce that we have launched a Colart North America B2B Trade website (https://trade.colart.com/na/)

This is the result of months of hard work and planning. I would like to thank the North American team for moving forward with launching the portal: Steve Chamberlin, Andrew Kimball, Amanda Hermann, and Kyle Daniele. Also, special thanks to my wonderful project team: Nicky Shaw, Rachael Reynolds, Arthur Sanders, Tania Sernivka, Ryan Peters, and Jasper Van der Wurff for their excellent work on this project. The site has 120 registered clients. We have initiated a soft launch first with 30 customers, next week on Monday we will invite an additional 60 NA customers to engage and place real orders via the NA trade site. We went through several iterations of test orders, and technical fixes (also big thanks to Samuel Webster for his help in fixing technical issues with adding Edding products) and now we can finally release the website to our NA customers. We have received positive feedback from the initial user testing, and everyone was pleased to proceed to a full launch of the Trade site.

Meanwhile the project team was building the last local site (Germany) simultaneously. As we are approaching the end of project B2B, myself, Jasper and Gareth are working on writing a communication post regarding announcing the end of project B2B Shakespeare. Again, huge thanks to everyone involved in this endeavour, and looking forward to bringing some continuous improvements for all our B2B trade sites.

Last night we saw the curation, ‘Momentary Synergie’  by students from Central St Martins UAL. It was hosted in elephant space; as part of the post Knowledge transfer partnership (KTP).  Each year the students respond to and interpret colour as part of their Fine art curriculum using only Colart brands.

This year was just as unique and extraordinary in providing insight into the creative process and how it manifests itself in different forms from students form one of the worlds leading art institutions.

All the students spent three weeks developing their ideas through drawing, painting and 3D culminating in an exhibition of diverse and interesting individual responses both digital and analogue.

What is clear from their feedback and the work, is how much they value the opportunity to have the chance to test and experiment materiality and for us; the chance to understand what they used as part of the process of making their work, working across brands media and exploring  new ways of using existing materials.

The introduction of Flashe and Liquitex fluids was a triumph and the response to metallics and watercolour mediums a great discovery for them. This drove them to use the brands websites as part of their research, to better understand differences between pigments and dyes ( so the floor was not stained), as well as demystifying all of our mediums and appreciate the rigour in the making of our archival materials, responding to each brands legacy.

I love Liquitex – working with this brand gives lots of opportunities to interact with great people. I that\’s what makes me happy!

The photos are pretty old, made in 2014, when we stared to seriously push Liquitex in Poland (I got the nice movie as well, but an error appeared, and I was not able to upload).

It was a great colabo with few well established street artist (great guys by the way, with whom I am still in touch): NAWER, SAINER ETAM, MONEYLESS, ZOER & VELVET.

If you happen to visit Krakow you can still see the walls with your own eyes – just let me know and I will give you coordinates.

Why do I love Liquitex? It’s a can do brand and a can do team. Artists, crafters, store associates, all the people in Colart associated with the brand seem to smile when they say the name? It is also a strongly profitable brand for us…allowing us to reinvest for the future.

    • FYI – this photo was Romain visiting Blick Art on 6th Avenue, NYC, recently – talking to the Blick assistant store manager Mazen who was super proud and passionate about the store and their success with Liquitex (and W&N I should add).

    • Nice to see that the Liquitex merchandising system is making an impact – Looks great!
