The Wall 3 years agoWe were delighted to host our friends from Jasco, Australia, in NJ this week. They really enjoyed the DC and site tour as well as time with NA marketing, Liquitex Global and some store visits. Well done and thank you to all involved in making us shine.

The Wall 3 years agoIf you are a fan of late night TV…The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon did a skit with Kevin Bacon call First Drafts of Rock featuring the Rolling Stones and their song “Paint it Black”…but the first draft of it was “Paint it Paint” and a line in the song say they go to “Michaels” and go down the paint aisle, “Aisle 6″…Michaels took it further and put out a TikTok video with the music going to Michaels and going down Aisle 6 to shop for “Paint”. At the beginning of t he TikTok video, our current Liquitex Bascis Acrylic Fluid endcap can be seen and then a bunch of passes of the camera across our branded tubes of paint within the aisle…

The Wall 3 years agoCheck out the following I posted to Colart’s insta yesterday:
https://www.instagram.com/p/Cqnwx2SI2AR/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
A conversation was prompted by several others at London Hub yesterday who noticed art students spray painting using Liquitex right outside our offices. Colart people were curious to find out what they were doing, so I went to ask them. They are graduate diploma art students who study and create in the space above our offices (who knew!!??!), and more importantly, they LOVE Liquitex. I cannot tell you how proud I felt telling these budding young artists (and Colart’s consumers of tomorrow) who I work for and what we make … they were so excited that they were speaking to someone from one of the brands that they love. Of course, I have promised them a tour of our archives and products (Step Nebbia, Mark, Debbie …. heeeeelp!!) which they are equally as excited about. Already other art students and the teaching lead now know of our interactions.
Seriously … it is moments like these that make me feel so proud to work for Colart and, to love our brands like our customers and consumers do.

Millions of tonnes of clothing, shoes and other textiles end up in landfill every year because very little is sent for recycling .
“The current fashion system uses high volumes of non-renewable resources, including petroleum, extracted to produce clothes that are often used only for a short period of time, after which the materials are largely lost to landfill or incineration. “This system puts pressure on valuable resources such as water, pollutes the environment and degrades ecosystems in addition to creating societal impacts on a global scale.” There are good reasons to seek out alternatives to chucking clothes in the bin – globally the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions, with textile production alone is estimated to release 1.2 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year. Vast amounts of water are also needed to produce the clothes we wear too and the fashion industry is responsible for 20% of global waste water. At the same time we are buying more clothes than ever – the average consumer now buys 60% more clothing than they did 15 years ago. More than two tonnes of clothing are bought each minute in the UK, more than any other country in Europe. Globally, around 56 million tonnes of clothing are bought each year, and this is expected to rise to 93 million tonnes by 2030 and 160 million tonnes by 2050.
"Reuse. Recycle. Rethink — your clothes deserve a second life, not a landfill."
