The Wall 3 years agoAround 50 paintings of the Lefranc Bourgeois Collection will be exhibited at the Modern Art Center (FIAA) in Le Mans until May 14. It regroups in peculiar some master pieces of very famous artists as Arman, Victor Vasarely, Lydie Arickx, Peter Klasen, Guy Ferrer, Olivier Masmonteil…with whom Lefranc Bourgeois did collaborate in the last decades (technical collaboration, art events, art contests, common engagement to support art and education…)
Last Thursday, the Vernissage was the occasion, moreover, to welcome Romain Guinier our new CEO, and around 100 invitees (political and economical authorities, artists, art school teachers, journalists, and some Colart colleagues!…). A great moment !

very nice! Great tip also for whoever is visiting le Mans from other areas, if you can find the time, to go see the exhibition. Wish I had something in the diary for early May 😉

The Wall 3 years agoThe French Equity, Diversity, Inclusion ambassadors invited Christian Manzi Mutijima, author of a documentary and a book that bears the same name “I am two in one”.
Colart employees were able to talk with Christian about the theme of diversity : skin color, religion, education, culture, social life etc…and the exchanges were very interesting ; everyone was able to talk about their experience and their feelings about the differences.
Christian was born in Rwanda and was married to a Djiboutian : “When you come from two different worlds, that should not be seen as a handicap but it is an asset because you learn from both sides; we have a double wealth. It’s a sign of openness.” He has a doctorate from the American University in Paris, he has practiced political journalism in South Africa, he teaches English in our region and has been a human rights activist.

Millions of tonnes of clothing, shoes and other textiles end up in landfill every year because very little is sent for recycling .
“The current fashion system uses high volumes of non-renewable resources, including petroleum, extracted to produce clothes that are often used only for a short period of time, after which the materials are largely lost to landfill or incineration. “This system puts pressure on valuable resources such as water, pollutes the environment and degrades ecosystems in addition to creating societal impacts on a global scale.” There are good reasons to seek out alternatives to chucking clothes in the bin – globally the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions, with textile production alone is estimated to release 1.2 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year. Vast amounts of water are also needed to produce the clothes we wear too and the fashion industry is responsible for 20% of global waste water. At the same time we are buying more clothes than ever – the average consumer now buys 60% more clothing than they did 15 years ago. More than two tonnes of clothing are bought each minute in the UK, more than any other country in Europe. Globally, around 56 million tonnes of clothing are bought each year, and this is expected to rise to 93 million tonnes by 2030 and 160 million tonnes by 2050.
"Reuse. Recycle. Rethink — your clothes deserve a second life, not a landfill."
