Last week, ably assisted by Guy Peeke-Vout, I did a shop re-fit for my customer Lunns, who’s shop is in Ringwood, Hampshire. With budgets being tight, it’s more important then ever that we re-use whatever we can. To that end, Guy collected a number of global merchandising units from another customer of ours (Pullingers), who had recently removed their concession from a C&H Fabric shop that was closing. Often in the past a third party has been used to collect redundant units, at significant cost to Colart, but by using our company cars to do this, it dramatically reduces the costs of reusing merchandising. With Colart pushing to be more environmentally friendly and sustainable this was a very good way of ensuring that as much merchandising as possible doesn’t go to waste. From the photos, you can see what a difference it’s made to how W&N is presented in store.

    • Well done Paul, and all involved, not only a great example of sustainability but they look great too. I imagine the customer is over the moon with the results.

    • It made a dramatic improvement and enhanced our position as their primary art supplier, solidifying our partnership during their major shop refit. They offer a vibrant workshop programme and on the day we visited, they ran two art classes in their dedicated classroom. Although they still have some work to do, I am looking forward to returning with Paul in the near future to see the finished result.

Amidst the uncertainty of these times, where some shops have been forced to close, we have made every effort to repurpose our merchandising (where commercially viable) while keeping overall costs low. This has helped us to get the most out of our advertising and promotions budget (A&P) and turn adversity into an opportunity to help our business grow.

    • Great Job – Otherwise I guess it would have just gone into landfill. Well done.

    • Sustainable and building our brand presence in store – well done Guy and Paul.

    • A great result were Paul, well done. The re fit looks terrific and all achieved with sustainability at the forefront of your thoughts.

    • Stored for a month in Guy’s sisters garage as well, so saving storage and transportation cost! Great work folks!

A fantastic looking re-fit, for a customer that will hopefully have them units there for 20+ years, just like the old ones! The immediate ROI might not be there with smaller independents, however the longer term financial and brand building ROI is priceless! The independents offer us a network of brand ambassadors who sell our brand informatively and with passion!

Thanks for sharing this Paul. And a great effort from you both in this re-fit.

    • Paul and Guy, this is a great result. Re-purposing, recycling – every aspect of this defines our values of People, Planet, Profit. Well done.

    • Those pictures say it all. Thanks for sharing.

    • Great job Paul and Guy, both from a brand presence and repurposing perspective!

    • wow Paul and Guy this is fantastic – creativity and a sustainability mindset can achieve wonders!

    • night and day. well done to both of you for this much needed improvement!

    • That looks so much better! As Jasper says ‘night and day’! Well done.

    • Amazing work on this, looks great!

Connecting with other people in a hybrid working environment is crucial for both personal and professional growth, as it helps to build relationships, enhance communication, and foster collaboration. In today’s world, where remote work is becoming increasingly common, it’s more important than ever to stay connected with colleagues to maintain a sense of community and company culture. Maintaining a strong company culture is critical for the success of any organisation, and connecting with other people is a key element of this.

On this very topic, we had a great face to face/online meeting at the hub yesterday to discuss remote working. It was a really nice to connect with so many of my hub colleagues in person. Special thanks to Gareth for capturing the moment.

    • Thanks to you, Harsa for hosting and facilitating such an engaging and collaborative meeting. Harsa’s comments about aren’t just “words”. The sense of connecting together in a real time environment, allowing really meaningful conversations was very real in this meeting. I’m pretty sure we all left “on the buzz” – thanks Harsa

    • I was there too! Just on the small screen!

From yesterday’s livestream with Winsor & Newton Artists’ Oil Colours.

The skin tones are mostly Cadmium Free Yellow Pale, Underpainting White and the New Transparent Orange and Ruby Madder Alizarin, while the hair and beard are mostly comprised of the new Smalt with Warm Brown Pink and Ultramarine Pink.  Fun colours that work well for portraiture.

The new LB e-commerce sites were launched successfully on the 14th February: lefrancbourgeois.com

This fantastic achievement was delivered on time and to scope. The team behind this project worked very hard over many months to make this happen.

We actively started work on January 5th 2022 and delivered the sites (ROW and FR) to the brand by the end of June 2022. We received a go-ahead from the brand and commercial teams to launch in early 2023. Collectively we decided the 14th of February was appropriate to both our schedules and ambitions.

I couldn’t be prouder of the results we achieved in this timeframe. This was not the only project the team was working on, and LB Ecom demanded time and focus. Well done and thank you to everyone involved. There were many helping hands. My special thanks to my core team Delphine Vaucois, Nicky Shaw, Eduardo Harris, Giuliano Riosa, Rebecca Smith, and Marie Vincent who were there advising and helping me scope the project back in 2021.

Thank you and more comms will come from the brand team soon.
