The Wall 3 years, 3 months agoHi All,
With the changes to our 18ml blister implemented last year, it has allowed us to look at the boxing configuration again.
The old blister due to its moulding did not allow us to “top and tail” the product for packing without small voids. The new card product has eliminated this, which has allowed us to redesign with the help of our local supplier to a new crash-locked lidded carton. Which now holds double the quantity product with hardly any change to the size.
Savings on cartons, tape, and transport costs as well as the impact on the environment.

The Wall 3 years, 3 months agoDid you know that Christie’s auction house says “ditch the white gloves”?
They don’t use white gloves when handling archive items and follow the instructions of institutions like the British Library and other major museums around the world. The gloves tend to make you lose dexterity as you’re turning pages of a delicate manuscript and transfer dirt from one page to another and they dislodge pigments and inks”…interesting.

The Wall 3 years, 3 months agoHi All!
Liquitex is proud to continue its sustainability journey with the introduction of our sustainability commitment, A Positive Mark, and a revamp of our Ethics and Sustainability page on liquitex.com.
At Liquitex, we believe in the power of artistic expression. That’s why we’re on a journey to create a better world where artists and communities can thrive: a world that gives back more than it takes, and that generates social and environmental value.
We know change can be a challenge, but we’re taking immediate steps to make our vision a reality. By empowering our community, innovating our products and packaging, and integrating sustainability into our business practices, we can continue to offer the high-quality products our customers expect and collectively put a positive mark on our future.
Please check out our new sustainability page here to learn more. A huge thank you to all involved in this project and special callout to Justina Gomes for designing the new page.

The Wall 3 years, 3 months agoI love that our Winsor & Newton pan watercolours used to be embossed with the Griffin and colour name. Maybe something to consider for a special set someday.
I stumbled upon this image on the virtual watercolour museum which is part of the web site of a craft store that was unknown to me. https://www.whimsie.com/antique%20art%20supplies.html

so cool, isn’t it? Have you seen some items from our ‘museum’ ? W&N used to make very big and elaborate wooden gift sets with drawers and all these pans embossed and stamped. I saw a Chinese manufacturer doing this too a year or two ago, so I guess (depending on the manufacturing process) it might still be possible to do?

Millions of tonnes of clothing, shoes and other textiles end up in landfill every year because very little is sent for recycling .
“The current fashion system uses high volumes of non-renewable resources, including petroleum, extracted to produce clothes that are often used only for a short period of time, after which the materials are largely lost to landfill or incineration. “This system puts pressure on valuable resources such as water, pollutes the environment and degrades ecosystems in addition to creating societal impacts on a global scale.” There are good reasons to seek out alternatives to chucking clothes in the bin – globally the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions, with textile production alone is estimated to release 1.2 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year. Vast amounts of water are also needed to produce the clothes we wear too and the fashion industry is responsible for 20% of global waste water. At the same time we are buying more clothes than ever – the average consumer now buys 60% more clothing than they did 15 years ago. More than two tonnes of clothing are bought each minute in the UK, more than any other country in Europe. Globally, around 56 million tonnes of clothing are bought each year, and this is expected to rise to 93 million tonnes by 2030 and 160 million tonnes by 2050.
"Reuse. Recycle. Rethink — your clothes deserve a second life, not a landfill."
