The Wall 3 years, 3 months agoAneta Piekarska started at Colart in September 2007, as a temporary worker. Her job role was as an assembly worker at our site in Kidderminster. Three months later, in January 2008, Aneta was then offered a full-time job. In 2009 she went on maternity leave with the joy of her second baby, returning to work in the assembly area in 2010. In 2011 Aneta moved into the warehouse as a warehouse general operative. She took on the role with many challenges and learnt many new skills including goods-in, despatch and carousel; growing her experience and knowledge in all areas. In 2021 Aneta started training in the production control department. She quickly picked up processes including inputting orders and releasing them. This led to her supporting this department more frequently.
Aneta is a credit to our operations and a dedicated member of the team and to the Colart business. Congratulations Aneta, fifteen years of fantastic service, dedication, and commitment to Colart.

The Wall 3 years, 3 months agoOver the holiday break I visited the Wharton Esherick Museum in Malvern, Pennsylvania. It’s the home and studio of artist Wharton Esherick and if you’re ever in the area I highly suggest a visit. Also nearby is an Air B&B I stayed at that was once the home of 1970’s singer/songwriter Jim Croce. There’s lots of inspiration to be had in each place.
Hailed as the Dean of American Studio Woodworking, Wharton Esherick (1887-1970) pioneered what was once considered a utilitarian craft into a form of art. Initially trained as a painter at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA), Wharton dropped out six months prior to graduation due to conflicting interests with the stylistic direction of the program. He later turned to woodworking and sculpture when his audience became more interested in his handcrafted wooden frames than his actual paintings. His distinguished wooden sculptures, avant-garde furniture creations, and woodblock prints have been exhibited at the 1940s Worlds Fair in New York, Museum of Metropolitan Art (MoMA), Renwick Gallery, Wolfsonian-FIU Museum, and Philadelphia Museum of Art.

The Wall 3 years, 3 months agoHi Colart Team! I wish you and your families all the best for the new challenging year. As it is a tradition at the beginning of the year to make some good resolutions or commitments, I would like to send you a suggestion or maybe a reminder with the rule of the \’5 R\’: Refuse, Reuse, Reduce, Recycle, Rot.
Hoping the color for the next years will be Green!

The Wall 3 years, 4 months agoAs part of our continuous improvement approach (PERFORM) we have just realized this week our first 5S half-day in our filling workshops. This first step mainly consisted of sorting out a good part of the useless things and cleaning up (down to the details) some things that had been left aside for too long.
Everyone took to the game and the result is sometimes surprising !
Congratulations to all the production teams at the Le Mans site and I invite everyone in 2023 to come and see where we are!
Happy New Year’s Eve to everyone!

Millions of tonnes of clothing, shoes and other textiles end up in landfill every year because very little is sent for recycling .
“The current fashion system uses high volumes of non-renewable resources, including petroleum, extracted to produce clothes that are often used only for a short period of time, after which the materials are largely lost to landfill or incineration. “This system puts pressure on valuable resources such as water, pollutes the environment and degrades ecosystems in addition to creating societal impacts on a global scale.” There are good reasons to seek out alternatives to chucking clothes in the bin – globally the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions, with textile production alone is estimated to release 1.2 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year. Vast amounts of water are also needed to produce the clothes we wear too and the fashion industry is responsible for 20% of global waste water. At the same time we are buying more clothes than ever – the average consumer now buys 60% more clothing than they did 15 years ago. More than two tonnes of clothing are bought each minute in the UK, more than any other country in Europe. Globally, around 56 million tonnes of clothing are bought each year, and this is expected to rise to 93 million tonnes by 2030 and 160 million tonnes by 2050.
"Reuse. Recycle. Rethink — your clothes deserve a second life, not a landfill."
