The Wall 3 years, 5 months agoOn Tuesday, November 29, 2022, the North American Art & Craft Team will be conducting our 100th Zoom Class Project for Michaels as part of their Classroom Curriculum Program. This milestone can only be said by a few other brands that participate within this program.
This journey started back in August of 2020, at the height of covid, by giving the Michaels audience an opportunity to create some beautiful artwork alongside with our Artist for a 1-hour class each week using Winsor & Newton and Liquitex branded products.
To date, the 100 classes will have generated over 83K sign-ups and over 32K attendees for our classes! In addition, the class replays have been viewed over 217K time on the Michaels YouTube channel.
This 100th class will be moderated by myself, and the performing Artist will be Mandy Peltier ( IG: mandypeltierartist), and she will be creating a seasonal Holly Berry themed wall art piece using colors from the Winsor & Newton Cotman Watercolour Sketch Box Set on Winsor & Newton Professional Watercolour Paper.

The Wall 3 years, 5 months agoAs part of our Watercolour Tour, we recently organised several online training sessions with materials package to upskill retailers’ shop staff, inspire them and let them try out our quality products.
Clearly, the team @Boesner Hannover appreciated these sessions and had a very positive experience using Winsor & Newton Professional Watercolours, Promarker and Fineliners.
This shows the added value of in-house artists and I am happy to have @mirjam.martinovic@Colart.com and @robert.rost@colart.com in the team, to further educate and inspire our key partners within Northern Europe in order to achieve more brand promoters in-store !
Enjoy the weekend!

What a brilliant initiative … especially at this time of the year. Now … curiously … can you please tell us what your “sustainability” tree is? …
-
Shane Williams replied 3 years, 5 months ago
Hi Gareth. Our sustainability tree is where we share our sustainability ideas, it’s made out of recycled broken pallets, each new leaf has the idea and the person it came from on it. I’ll get Liza to send you a latest pic.…

Millions of tonnes of clothing, shoes and other textiles end up in landfill every year because very little is sent for recycling .
“The current fashion system uses high volumes of non-renewable resources, including petroleum, extracted to produce clothes that are often used only for a short period of time, after which the materials are largely lost to landfill or incineration. “This system puts pressure on valuable resources such as water, pollutes the environment and degrades ecosystems in addition to creating societal impacts on a global scale.” There are good reasons to seek out alternatives to chucking clothes in the bin – globally the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions, with textile production alone is estimated to release 1.2 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year. Vast amounts of water are also needed to produce the clothes we wear too and the fashion industry is responsible for 20% of global waste water. At the same time we are buying more clothes than ever – the average consumer now buys 60% more clothing than they did 15 years ago. More than two tonnes of clothing are bought each minute in the UK, more than any other country in Europe. Globally, around 56 million tonnes of clothing are bought each year, and this is expected to rise to 93 million tonnes by 2030 and 160 million tonnes by 2050.
"Reuse. Recycle. Rethink — your clothes deserve a second life, not a landfill."
