The Wall 3 years, 5 months agoColart in North America will be closed Thursday November 24th and Friday November 25th to celebrate Thanksgiving in the USA (for the record the celebration in Canada is in October!). I must say my family has grown to love this holiday – meeting up with friends and sharing food – it feels like Christmas time but without the stress of gift giving! We will also continue our family commitment to the local foodbank for those less fortunate this holiday.
Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

I love that visual – its a message that rings true for most things in life. Thanks for posting, Ajita…

this is such a great visual demonstrating how the small things really can make a difference.
Many of you may have seen how the Japanese football fans stayed behind after the game against Germany at the World Cup to clear up the litter. Put the sense of CARE together with personal OWERSHIP, imagine what we can achieve.… -
great example indeed Ajita. You are right… small changes can have a lot of impact… so let’s all contribute where we can!…

The Wall 3 years, 5 months agoA great experience in sharing !
Responding to the invitation of the wellbeing group in Le Mans, Angélique Beury and Nadine Fortin began to help with homework for school children. These children of migrants are welcomed into the TARMAC association pending the regularization of their situation.
The children (primary or secondary level) can thus count on these volunteers who help them at the end of the day, during school periods. Their commitment is partly part of Colart’s community hours.
“I find this experience very enriching humanly. I had no experience in this area and I admit I was a little apprehensive at first. But quickly, I understood that these children needed, in addition to help with homework, that we devote time to them and that we listen to them. We take them out of their daily lives,” comments Angélique.

I’d be interested to learn what Angelique and Nadine learn in return. My experience with teaching /mentoring children is that I learn so much from them that it really is a two way street…
-
Thank you Angelique and Nadine for this communty activity !
It is never easy to move out of our space of confort and knowledge, and it is great to do it for others……

The Wall 3 years, 5 months agoFollowing the handicap agreement signed with the unions, the Steering Committee met for the first time last week.
As part of European Handicap Week, Colart in Le Mans organized a game with questions for staff on the subject of disability: a fun game to learn in a good mood.
We also welcomed 4 people with disabilities into the company as part of DuoDay: a great human experience that will be repeated next year.

Millions of tonnes of clothing, shoes and other textiles end up in landfill every year because very little is sent for recycling .
“The current fashion system uses high volumes of non-renewable resources, including petroleum, extracted to produce clothes that are often used only for a short period of time, after which the materials are largely lost to landfill or incineration. “This system puts pressure on valuable resources such as water, pollutes the environment and degrades ecosystems in addition to creating societal impacts on a global scale.” There are good reasons to seek out alternatives to chucking clothes in the bin – globally the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions, with textile production alone is estimated to release 1.2 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year. Vast amounts of water are also needed to produce the clothes we wear too and the fashion industry is responsible for 20% of global waste water. At the same time we are buying more clothes than ever – the average consumer now buys 60% more clothing than they did 15 years ago. More than two tonnes of clothing are bought each minute in the UK, more than any other country in Europe. Globally, around 56 million tonnes of clothing are bought each year, and this is expected to rise to 93 million tonnes by 2030 and 160 million tonnes by 2050.
"Reuse. Recycle. Rethink — your clothes deserve a second life, not a landfill."
