The Wall 3 years, 5 months agoHappy Wednesday!
A few weeks back Ivo posted on the Colart wall about the live painting event we supported at the London Graphic Centre with The artist, Nadine Mahoney, who used Lefranc Bourgeois Flashe to paint ‘La Danse’. Nadine said this about her experience:
“When invited to create a piece for Lefranc Bourgeois I immediately thought of Nikki St Phalle, she famously used Flashe paints. In my works, I often draw on cultural imagery which was ideal for the scale of this piece and evoked a wonderful sense of dynamic chaos creating the tone of the painting. It was an amazing experience, and so happy with how it came out. I really wasn’t expecting such an immediate positive response from the public.”
More details can be found on the London Graphic Centre blog post and they will also be sharing on their social media:

The Wall 3 years, 5 months agoSo, maybe this is obvious to some or most of you, but I have to admit that in all my years with Colart I never questioned the origin of the name Winton for our introductory range of oil paint and then while writing content for a demo I saw Winsor & Newton plain as day. Am I the only one late to the game on this?
-
Jane Beeston replied 3 years, 5 months ago
oh yes…you are not the only one 😜…

Piet van Nassau replied 3 years, 5 months ago
Good question Jimmy. This range was branded Winsor & Newton London oil colo(u)r before.…

Ha, ha…I am late to the game too. …

I had no idea! This is such an ‘aha’ moment!…

Eduardo Harris replied 3 years, 5 months ago
I’ve just learned this from your post. Looking at the image you posted it now seems quite obvious 😂…
-
if you indeed did uncover the rules of the Winton game Jimmy, i am definately late to the game as well . . . . .…
-
Great spot Jimmy, like most people, I hadn’t seen it – thank you. Very clever, but probably too clever. The original name Winsor & Newton London oil colour makes it so much easier for a wider audience to understand the product.…

The Wall 3 years, 5 months agoWhat can I do in terms of sustainability? How does sustainability impact me? Just a few of the questions I get asked from time to time.
A great example of making sustainability BAU is at Minehead, sustainability is on the managers meeting agenda every week, and Julian Hooper has come up with utilising a crash-lock solution which will remove tape and will mean no void fill required (air pillows). Increased flute to 150k for added protection. Reduced size also means increased amounts to a standard pallet, savings in transport costs and CO2 cost to the environment. Check out the before and after pics to better understand the improvement. They will now look at other cartons to see if they can do the same thing.
Big shout out to the team at Minehead! ‘thinking outside the box’ literally!
-
This is a brilliant example of thinking beyond the unit cost of the component. Although the box may be more expensive there is no tape no void fill and it takes half the time to pack. But the big saving is in freight – you get 3 times more on a pallet. Well done Julian and the team! …
-
Like this initiative! Might mean more different types of tray boxes, but agree with Richard, there is a gain on the other end. Keep improving team Snaz!…

So impressive team Minehead! Love that sustainability is a part of your weekly agenda, leading by example here through passion and dedication.…

love it – this is what happens when you “just” put your mind to doing the right thing – win-win all over! – thank you Julian …

Less is more – exactly the type of thinking and initiatives we increasingly seeing around the business. Well done.…

Hi Jane, unfortunately, we have not done any seasonal card making projects with Liquitex with our A&C accounts. Millions of tonnes of clothing, shoes and other textiles end up in landfill every year because very little is sent for recycling .
“The current fashion system uses high volumes of non-renewable resources, including petroleum, extracted to produce clothes that are often used only for a short period of time, after which the materials are largely lost to landfill or incineration. “This system puts pressure on valuable resources such as water, pollutes the environment and degrades ecosystems in addition to creating societal impacts on a global scale.” There are good reasons to seek out alternatives to chucking clothes in the bin – globally the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions, with textile production alone is estimated to release 1.2 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year. Vast amounts of water are also needed to produce the clothes we wear too and the fashion industry is responsible for 20% of global waste water. At the same time we are buying more clothes than ever – the average consumer now buys 60% more clothing than they did 15 years ago. More than two tonnes of clothing are bought each minute in the UK, more than any other country in Europe. Globally, around 56 million tonnes of clothing are bought each year, and this is expected to rise to 93 million tonnes by 2030 and 160 million tonnes by 2050.
"Reuse. Recycle. Rethink — your clothes deserve a second life, not a landfill."

Having visited LGC very recently and getting to see this piece in person has been a wonderful experience. I think the video does do the scale justice, but it’s definitely very impressive in real life too. Beautiful time lapse of the piece being created and a great educational blog post on LB and Flashe! Such a great collaboration that’s come to life. Massive well done & congrats again to yourself & Ivo.…
This is a fantastic piece of work, both the art itself and the Colart teams drive to make this happen. The relationship that has been developed with LGC is resulting in a true partnership:- growing ranges and sales together, creating inspiring activation like this and the Viviva demos, BIC in store merchandising….
A great piece of work team! And thank you Guy for opening the doors to these posibilities.…
super video Guy – thanks for sharing – and what a potential LB Flash has in the UK and across the globe based on its unique emotional and functional benefits – since I discovered her art in Paris when i lived there in the nineties i am a big fan of Nikki’s work and by now an even bigger fan of the paints that she used 🙂…
Well done Guy and team. It’s so good to see professional quality product imagery being used to reflect the quality and value of the LB and Flashe sub-brand. And thoughtful branded apron clips in the video to embed the brand in viewer’s minds. Raising the bar for future projects, well done.…
