The Wall 3 years, 6 months agoThe wellbeing group in Le Mans has given Colart staff the opportunity to be with patients to participate alongside them in creative workshops.
The idea is not to talk about the disease but rather to spend a friendly moment so that these cancer patients can escape from their daily lives.
These creative workshops were able to resume on Tuesday with the hospital, after a two-year hiatus (covid crisis). They take place every two weeks.
Line and Pascale, our nurses, took part in these workshops as part of the community hours.
This activity, reserved for Colart staff and patients, is a success because there are no more dates available until the end of February.
Colart offers products to enable the smooth running of these workshops.
Testimonials from Line and Pascale
Tuesday morning, we were very well received by Agnรจs Rainjonneau and the three participants in the Plastic Arts workshop at the hospital.
On the proposal of the facilitator, each one makes personal productions with the material made available.
The result is the pooling of creations in order to complete a collective work started during a previous workshop.
Everyone left satisfied with this moment of convivial and creative exchange.

The Wall 3 years, 6 months agoHappy to share that W&N + TATE Collection II of curated sets is launched!
5 different sets invite everyone to be an artist, inspired and guided by old masters as Sargent or Cรฉzanne. They include everything needed to paint and give access to online how-to guides to follow their techniques – unbox it here:
And this year we aligned with the TATE calendar; the Oil set will be included as a related product in their now live Cezanne exhibition. TATE will include a banner with the sets in their online shop and feature them during their Christmas campaign.
Looking forward to seeing these sets โshiningโ also in store, a display was developed to make them more visible and phygital!
Thank you to everyone involved in making this happen.

This is fantastic Marta and a massive testimony to all the hard work, drive and passion that you have put into this. I agree that they deserve to shine !!!…
-
Stay tuned for the 3rd round of Tate sets for 2023 that we are working on:
The brief has been to design:
– a more sustainable gifting box that doesn’t have any plastic vac form inside (and will hopefully look beautiful enough be kept and reused)
– that can be scaled across any sized set with different contents – for future global sets and local market sets
– that has a W&N ‘ownable’ design – based around the W&N ‘golden ratio’ design layout
– that feels more special when unboxing and reveals different messaging during the process
– oh, and is less expensive than the Tate 2 rigid card box above (rigid card boxes and plastic vac forms are expensive to make)
Not much to ask.…

The Wall 3 years, 6 months agoIt\’s just a little piece of plastic…… but
when there are 11 million of them per annum that\’s a lot of plastic! Following on from my post about shipping materials it\’s time to shout out the progress being made on plastic use in our products.
Several teams have been working on switching key plastic components away from brand new virgin plastic to recycled plastic.
The results so far mean.
11 million ½ pan cups per annum will be made using recycled plastic.
½ million plastic paint boxes per annum have also changed to recycled plastic.
1 million plastic vac form trays used in sets etc. now use recycled plastic.
In addition, many of the plastic packaging components in our Snazaroo range have been switched to recycled plastic.
This is a significant reduction in our use of virgin plastic and helps us in our journey to carbon neutrality by 2030.
Truly a team effort across the business – well done to everyone who has been involved in these projects!
Watch out for a special Town hall coming up soon where we will provide more information.
colart cares and so do our people.

Hi Richard, that’s a great news. Do you reckon we can have this information as press release (or sort of) to be shared with our wide audience (customers, universities and consumers)? This is a great achievement and should be made public.Well done to everyone who worked on it!
-
Absolutely – I am planning on picking up with Jo & Gareth etc to work up a release suitable for a wider audience. Will be in touch…

Really interesting, small items with a big impact. Fantastic development for Colart. Have we ever looked at plastic alternatives for these types of product? Back in the 00’s Tom Dixon designed some bio-degradable table ware (85% bamboo fibre) – the price was a little eye-watering at the time (maybe reflecting the challenging manufacturing process, or maybe just because he’s Tom DIxon) but I wonder how this area has developed. I’m sure I’ve seen a lot of bamboo based products at a more affordable cost base recently? …
-
Thanks Ben – yes bamboo is a very versatile material. Worth looking at…

Millions of tonnes of clothing, shoes and other textiles end up in landfill every year because very little is sent for recycling .
“The current fashion system uses high volumes of non-renewable resources, including petroleum, extracted to produce clothes that are often used only for a short period of time, after which the materials are largely lost to landfill or incineration. “This system puts pressure on valuable resources such as water, pollutes the environment and degrades ecosystems in addition to creating societal impacts on a global scale.” There are good reasons to seek out alternatives to chucking clothes in the bin – globally the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions, with textile production alone is estimated to release 1.2 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year. Vast amounts of water are also needed to produce the clothes we wear too and the fashion industry is responsible for 20% of global waste water. At the same time we are buying more clothes than ever – the average consumer now buys 60% more clothing than they did 15 years ago. More than two tonnes of clothing are bought each minute in the UK, more than any other country in Europe. Globally, around 56 million tonnes of clothing are bought each year, and this is expected to rise to 93 million tonnes by 2030 and 160 million tonnes by 2050.
"Reuse. Recycle. Rethink — your clothes deserve a second life, not a landfill."
