“no need to mix”, “pigment retention”, “inviting to add additives” are all promising words of artists getting their hands on one of our bigger NPDs in recents years – very pleased to see the initial feedback from artists to our Liquitex Basics Acrylic Fluid launch at Michaels – we have invested up to ยฃ1m in Le Mans to be able to fill the bottles at volume with efficiency – so we are ready for more!
Led by Kim and the Liquitex team, thank you all across so many departments to make this happen as a clear demonstration of what we are capable of! … -

The Wall 3 years, 7 months agoThis past Tuesday, the DEI and Wellbeing Committees came together to celebrate our similarities and our differences. Kim Stylides and Carlos Trejo were our MCs. They asked questions, such as, “Who prefers roller skates?” and “Who has tattoos?”. We found we had more in common than not. Especially, when it came to coffee over tea and if you consider a hot dog to be a sandwich. I’m glad to say the exercise went well and everyone had fun.ย
Below are photos of some of our groups. Also, a photo of our coffee drinkers (#4) and those who believe a hot dog to be a sandwich (#23).
Thank you to Elba Garnica and Kim Stylides for their help in putting this all together.ย
-
Well done, and thank you, on the organisation and the spirit in which I can see everyone took part. I’m sorry illness kept me away. For the record, I was a (hot) tea drinker but living in the USA for nine years I am now more of a coffee drinker these days. I do not think of a hot dog as a sandwich. I wear neither roller skates or tatoos ๐…

Gail Pasquier replied 3 years, 7 months ago
No – hot dogs are hot dogs – a sandwich is egg and cress !!
Looks like a wonderful event – a big thank you to everyone who participated.

Jane Beeston replied 3 years, 7 months ago
Thanks for sharing and what a great basis for a discussion to realise that in our differences we are the same. Please do share the discussion format with other DEI councils as it would be great to see this activity repeated across our regions….
….coffee over tea….that’s a hard one!!!… -
Kim Stylides replied 3 years, 7 months ago
Will definitely share across councils and we will be forwarding a short video as a follow up to the images and message from April above. It was a great exercise and we plan to do it again with additional fun questions, peppered in with a few more serious ones. Big shout to April and Elba for their tremendous effort to make this happen! And thanks to others behind the scene for support Eric, Johnny and Duane. …

The Wall 3 years, 7 months agoAbout a month ago, we represented W&N Drawing Inks at a 4-day ink and decoration dedicated shopping event at one of the prestige department stores in Tokyo, organized by a local stationary event organizer group, for 2nd time in a row this year.ย Although our W&N brand does not have a strong brand presence in the stationery category, we had 20% more sales over last year thanks to the cute&neat packaging of the Drawing Inks, and well-prepared booth materials (especially we needed to explain these inks are not meant for fountain pens) that included calligraphy created by one of our artist partners. ย

Millions of tonnes of clothing, shoes and other textiles end up in landfill every year because very little is sent for recycling .
“The current fashion system uses high volumes of non-renewable resources, including petroleum, extracted to produce clothes that are often used only for a short period of time, after which the materials are largely lost to landfill or incineration. “This system puts pressure on valuable resources such as water, pollutes the environment and degrades ecosystems in addition to creating societal impacts on a global scale.” There are good reasons to seek out alternatives to chucking clothes in the bin – globally the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions, with textile production alone is estimated to release 1.2 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year. Vast amounts of water are also needed to produce the clothes we wear too and the fashion industry is responsible for 20% of global waste water. At the same time we are buying more clothes than ever – the average consumer now buys 60% more clothing than they did 15 years ago. More than two tonnes of clothing are bought each minute in the UK, more than any other country in Europe. Globally, around 56 million tonnes of clothing are bought each year, and this is expected to rise to 93 million tonnes by 2030 and 160 million tonnes by 2050.
"Reuse. Recycle. Rethink — your clothes deserve a second life, not a landfill."
