The Wall 3 years, 9 months agoThe Journey – Welcome Aboard
Last time our Northern European Winsor & Newton “The Journey” Campaign took us to Germany. Today we are headed back to Sweden and Panduro/Kreatima.
A summer with long-awaited leave is finally here! And what better way to spend it than in the company of your favorite hobby and the places you love. This time Panduro/Kreatima and the lovely Kajsa Wallin, a Swedish artist known for her magical fairytale characters will take us on an exciting journey through Swedish traditions and holidays. We started in June with celebrating Midsommar and the tradition of picking 7 different flowers to put under your pillow while you sleep. Legend goes that during the night your true love will appear in your dreams. While this might seem a bit odd to some, this tradition is an old Nordic folklore tale that we hold dear to this day.
While continuing on Nordic folklore tales, have you ever wondered what mythical creatures lies deep in the Scandinavian forests? Then make sure to follow our journey throughout August when Kajsa will explore a few Scandinavian folklore creatures. Some of these creatures are believed to be benevolent towards human beings, whilst others less so.
We have embarked on a long and very exciting journey that will teach us the traditions and beliefs of the Scandinavian people. Want to learn more about the Scandinavian culture? Keep an eye on Kreatima’s journey landing page for the next steps (available in Swedish/Danish/Norwegian). Also make sure to keep a close eye on Panduro’s and Kajsa’s Instagram for weekly updates.
Next week we will be travelling to Poland!

The Wall 3 years, 9 months agoDevelopment Team visit to Le MansThe Dev Team had the privilege of visiting our colleagues in Le Mans for a few days in July. Our trip included a tour of the facility, and collaboration with the Apps team, the French commercial team, and Sales Operations. We also managed to meet Marie Vincent (LB brand team) in Paris for a few hours (there are advantages to train delays!).Visiting Le Mans gave us a special insight into our roles and purpose at Colart. Our relationships with our colleagues have deepened and become three-dimensional. I’d like to thank Sanjay Marwaha for making this trip possible and ensuring we got the most out of it. Thank you also to my team for your enthusiasm and positive energy, and for making the trip really memorable. The factory was a sensory experience, full of the smells of paint and the sound of people and machines. We saw Charbonnel etching ink in production and the packaging of watercolours and paints. We visited the incredible new lab and witnessed the AGVs (automated guided vehicles) featured in last year’s Town Hall. It gave us a new perspective on what we do.We’re very grateful to everyone who met with us and facilitated our trip. Our special thanks to Guillaume Lawson, Lorris Loger, Jean‑François Emery and the entire Apps team for hosting us, and Dominique Murzeau for welcoming us.-

It was good seeing you all in Le Mans. It was good to see the enthusiasm of the team to learn how we manufacture and distribute. It was also an opportunity for them to understand the principles of manufacturing before they start developing for industry 4.0. …

Most definitely. This was everyone’s first time visiting one of our sites, even though some of us have been at Colart for quite a few years now. Quite a milestone.…

there is always an upside in meeting face to face when the opportunity arises, I believe. Well done to the team to travel to le Mans and getting to know different sides of the business!…

The Wall 3 years, 9 months agoLefranc Bourgeois team is delighted to share summer vibes from Paris, with James MacKeown\’s special exhibition at Charbonnel, \”Rêveries Marines\”, until mid-September.
This internationally renowned Irish artist belongs to a third generation of painters. Born in 1961, he grew up in Ireland, Turkey and Wales. He never went to art school, and won his first painting prize when he was only 16 years old. He learnt to paint at home with his grand-father, and shared the passion of painting with his children who are now artists as well.
Having lived in Switzerland and Normandy, he fell in love with Northern Brittany coastal colors palette and changing atmospheres, and settled in Paimpol where he owns a gallery. He likes to capture the spontaneity of everyday life and connects intimacy with immensity.
We look forward to welcoming you during the boutique opening hours (Mondays to Fridays, 9:30-5:30), or upon appointment (contact: Renc-art@lefrancbourgeois.com), except the week of August 15th. Please check-out the exhibition catalogue and feel free to share: Catalogue d\’exposition James MacKeown Lefranc Bourgeois Rêveries marines.pdf
Stay tuned as our summer Plein Air digital campaign will also be a tribute to James\’ talent !

The Wall 3 years, 9 months agoWhat does a casual collision and an erection have in common?
NO! This is not a dirty Friday afternoon joke. This is a serious question.
Do you find that when you go in-to-work that your bubble no longer bursts, your creative juices have stopped flowing and your horizon\’s have narrowed?
Then STOP NOW! Get the answers to all my questions by spending the next 2 minutes and 24 seconds watching this Colart Academy video: https://intranet.colart.com/en/lessons/test-your-ideas/
AND … let me now if you plan to casually collide next week?…
-
I’ve got a few things to comment on. 1) This is a great attention grabbing, internal comms post Gareth… of course it is 😉 2) I really enjoyed the format of this course with small videos to watch in each section 3) Great story from Pfizer example! I love the idea of casual collision and putting an official ‘function’ towards bumping into people you may not normally interact with 4) This had me thinking that I would actually love to learn more about what colleagues who I don’t have official interaction with are up to in their week/month. Perhaps a monthly forum on the intranet where we can all post 1 thing we learned this month, 1 thing we were proud to achieve this month and 1 piece of ‘knowledge’ or ‘info’ that we want to share with others from our work area… Just a thought.…

Good format – short and clear and great to see comments from Francheska…

More than 100 planograms have been updated so far, also adding the 8 new Artists’ Oil Colours we have just launched, and the new merchandising system looks great! Attached are before and after pictures from one of the Blick stores in Chicago.

Millions of tonnes of clothing, shoes and other textiles end up in landfill every year because very little is sent for recycling .
“The current fashion system uses high volumes of non-renewable resources, including petroleum, extracted to produce clothes that are often used only for a short period of time, after which the materials are largely lost to landfill or incineration. “This system puts pressure on valuable resources such as water, pollutes the environment and degrades ecosystems in addition to creating societal impacts on a global scale.” There are good reasons to seek out alternatives to chucking clothes in the bin – globally the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions, with textile production alone is estimated to release 1.2 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year. Vast amounts of water are also needed to produce the clothes we wear too and the fashion industry is responsible for 20% of global waste water. At the same time we are buying more clothes than ever – the average consumer now buys 60% more clothing than they did 15 years ago. More than two tonnes of clothing are bought each minute in the UK, more than any other country in Europe. Globally, around 56 million tonnes of clothing are bought each year, and this is expected to rise to 93 million tonnes by 2030 and 160 million tonnes by 2050.
"Reuse. Recycle. Rethink — your clothes deserve a second life, not a landfill."
