The Wall 3 years, 9 months agoGreat to see some of our brands featured so prominently in the publication of the UCL colour and poetry symposium, we were able to host the launch at elephant last week. The next publication will also be including LB. It is a very good endorsement from such a world reknowned institution that works with so many institutions globally. A great context for our brands.

super good Steph – very happy to see true brand presence within the best art institutions in the world – and coming together at Elephant space makes it even more special – well done!…

The Wall 3 years, 9 months agoDelighted to share photos of young artists aged nine-15 from our local community in west London who took part in the Elephant poster competition for LGBTQ+ history month.
Adorning the front wall of Elephant Space (formerly known as Elephant West) are posters chosen from an open submission competition led by Elephant in conjunction with Hammersmith & Fulhamโs youth council. Together we invited visual responses on the subject of LGBTQ+ history and we were honoured to receive more than 350 applications from young artists in the borough. Our nine finalists impressed us with their work touching on ideas of community, inclusion, family and gender binaries.
As part of the prize, our winners will receive creative mentoring (from me!) and art supplies from Elephant, as well as a cash prize kindly donated by construction company Kier.

Absolutely love these pictures Emmely. It was fantastic to have our finalists on site and to see how proud they were to have their first pieces of work exhibited – and to see some misty-eyed parents! Worth mentioning that I’ve had several friends in the local area whose children have visited thanks to word of mouth, which just shows how impactful something like this can be. Well done!…

Millions of tonnes of clothing, shoes and other textiles end up in landfill every year because very little is sent for recycling .
“The current fashion system uses high volumes of non-renewable resources, including petroleum, extracted to produce clothes that are often used only for a short period of time, after which the materials are largely lost to landfill or incineration. “This system puts pressure on valuable resources such as water, pollutes the environment and degrades ecosystems in addition to creating societal impacts on a global scale.” There are good reasons to seek out alternatives to chucking clothes in the bin – globally the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions, with textile production alone is estimated to release 1.2 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year. Vast amounts of water are also needed to produce the clothes we wear too and the fashion industry is responsible for 20% of global waste water. At the same time we are buying more clothes than ever – the average consumer now buys 60% more clothing than they did 15 years ago. More than two tonnes of clothing are bought each minute in the UK, more than any other country in Europe. Globally, around 56 million tonnes of clothing are bought each year, and this is expected to rise to 93 million tonnes by 2030 and 160 million tonnes by 2050.
"Reuse. Recycle. Rethink — your clothes deserve a second life, not a landfill."
