The Wall 3 years, 10 months agoHello All,
We are Tim & Teresa Spooner from the Lowestoft Crown Artist Brush site.
We would like to reach out to ask if anyone would help us to support our daughter Charlotte who is a member of the ‘The Queens’ dance troupe that are currently through to the ‘World of Dance’ Final competition which is amazing and makes us immensely proud as they will be the only dance group representing England at this event!
The founder of ‘The Queens’ is Nicola Mac that is an all-female identifying jazz dance company based in London. They are a company of nine dancers of which one of those members is our daughter Charlotte Spooner. After hearing about the Lowestoft stories from the family and being aware of the Colart artistic brands maybe the Colart brands could be good fit with their creativeness and could align in their next global adventure?
The company ethos is ‘Jazz is Joy’, promoting happiness, empowerment, and unity. Since the company’s conception in 2017, they have set out to perpetuate that message around the UK and beyond by entering competitions such as The Greatest Dancer BBC One and creating online content for brands such as FILA and Barry’s UK. In May 2022, they competed at The World of Dance in Eindhoven, where they won “Best Costume” and achieved a qualifying mark. They have since been selected as the Wild Card to compete at the world finals in July, which takes place in Los Angeles.
They are extremely proud to be given this once in a lifetime opportunity, and to be the only competitors invited to represent the UK. With the finals being only 4 weeks away and The Queens being a self-funded dance company, they are reaching out for help and support in making this amazing opportunity a reality and giving the UK a chance to win the ‘World of Dance 2022’.
This is where we need your help. They are looking for sponsors and support in any way available. This is a great opportunity to represent a brand while they are in LA. They have put forward the idea ‘in exchange for a donation they would love to represent the Colart company’.
e.g., wearing SNAZAROO body paint on stage and wear branded clothing off stage?
Official World of dance YouTube has 5.85 million subscribers and has been a starting platform for global artists such as Paris Goebel and Les Twins. They hope for ‘The Queens’ to have a similar journey of global recognition and they believe now is the time to strike. They are refreshingly different and the only UK dance company breaking boundaries on this scale since Diversity.
In you are interested in supporting this creative opportunity please see links to there work below:
World of dance Qualifier https://youtu.be/1ihruXwF8Ys
The Greatest Dancer BBC One https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_cJON-ZK-M (over 1 million views)
Ultimately, they dance for the ‘Love of it’ and they have all found life-time friendships through ‘The Queens’ which is a testament to the sense of community that dance can create together with our friends, family and maybe even the Colart family too.
They would love the brand they collaborate with on this adventure to also be in the creative sector.
Your help would mean so much to Tim and I and our family.

The Wall 3 years, 10 months agoTomorrow I will be attending the Pride parade and here in London they will celebrate 50 years since the inaugural 1972 Pride march. From 200 people in 1972 to over 1.5m visitors today, Pride today is a a platform for every part of London’s LGBT+ communities (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans*, queer, questioning, intersex, non-binary, asexual, polysexual, genderqueer and gender variant people) to raise awareness of LGBT+ issues and campaign for the freedoms that will allow them to live their lives on a genuinely equal footing.
This year’s theme is #AllOurPride – a nod to the fact that this year Pride will be ‘uniting the collective past, present and future of pride from every corner of the LGBT+ community’.
The organisers of Pride in London have said that they want to use this year to ‘march towards progress’.They’re calling on the UK government to ban conversion therapy for all LGBTQ+ people, to reform the Gender Recognition Act, to provide equal protection for LGBTQ+ communities against hate crime, to establish a national Aids memorial and more.
The fight for freedom, equality and awareness continues.

The Wall 3 years, 10 months agoThe Journey – Welcome Aboard Last week our Northern European Winsor & Newton Campaign took us to the Netherlands, this week The Journey takes us to Sweden.
Traveling has always been a great source of inspiration – and this time around we are travelling to Sweden to explore the theme of staycation. Staycation is pretty much about discovering that sometimes the best things in life are right next to you. In order to stay creative, have fun and keep evolving as an artist, you need to stay curious to your surroundings.
Since this journey is all about exploring and being curious we decided to team up with an artist who could help us along the way. With a reach of 220k followers we had the pleasure to team up with Lise Hellström, a well-known Swedish lettering artist. Lise was an obvious choice because of her love for the brand and for the staycation theme as she herself describes ‘’ This theme is really close to my heart, I’m a stay at home person who happen to love the place I live in, and we all need to change a lot of habits to stop climate change, so the theme sits really well with me’’
For this 3 month campaign Lise and Winsor & Newton have teamed up with key retailer Pen Store, one of Scandinavia’s leading players in pencils and artist materials. We kicked off our staycation journey with a postcard from Varberg, Lise’s hometown. We wanted to showcase a wider use of our product range, to give Lise the opportunity to show the lettering community how to expand their creativity by using new techniques and tools. Also don’t miss to check out this amazing BuJo page (bullet journaling) Lise did the other week using our sketchbook, watercolours and fineliners!
For more inspiration have a look at this step-by-step guide Pen Store created just for this campaign. Thanks to Martin Wester and Robert Rost, we together managed that Pen Store enlarged their Watercolour & Graphic Art portfolio. The team has worked very hard to ensure that the funnelling was completed, and the good news is that Pen Store bought in huge stock of products and the materials are turning quickly!
Be sure to look out for our post next week that will take you on The Journey to Poland again.
Here’s to a summer of creativity and fun!

Millions of tonnes of clothing, shoes and other textiles end up in landfill every year because very little is sent for recycling .
“The current fashion system uses high volumes of non-renewable resources, including petroleum, extracted to produce clothes that are often used only for a short period of time, after which the materials are largely lost to landfill or incineration. “This system puts pressure on valuable resources such as water, pollutes the environment and degrades ecosystems in addition to creating societal impacts on a global scale.” There are good reasons to seek out alternatives to chucking clothes in the bin – globally the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions, with textile production alone is estimated to release 1.2 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year. Vast amounts of water are also needed to produce the clothes we wear too and the fashion industry is responsible for 20% of global waste water. At the same time we are buying more clothes than ever – the average consumer now buys 60% more clothing than they did 15 years ago. More than two tonnes of clothing are bought each minute in the UK, more than any other country in Europe. Globally, around 56 million tonnes of clothing are bought each year, and this is expected to rise to 93 million tonnes by 2030 and 160 million tonnes by 2050.
"Reuse. Recycle. Rethink — your clothes deserve a second life, not a landfill."
