The Wall 8 months, 3 weeks agoUK Trade Tour with new W&N Global Brand Director Chris Wooff.
Martyn Symes and I were delighted to take Chris Wooff, the new W&N Global Brand Director, on a UK Trade Tour last week.
The Winsor & Newton brand is incredibly important to the UK and we were able to show the strong brand footprint, visibility and impact the UK team have secured with this amazing brand.
Chris had the opportunity to meet store managers, buyers and managing directors across the store groups of Cass, Waterstones and London Graphic Centre – all of which exuded their strong advocacy of Colart brands, the UK team and the wider organisation.
We were also able to show Chris the W&N illuminated headers and the recent innovative and bold thinking into action in the UK team to further create impact of the W&N brand with the installation of a large interactive screen integrated into the W&N Art Wall in LGC. This is a fantastic initiative driven by Guy Peeke-Vout in Martyn’s Fine Art Channel team in collaboration with Viktoria Saplaoura in Charlotte’s marketing team. Huge kudos to both of them.
We look forward to working closely and collaboratively with Chris and his W&N team, continuing our journey to drive and grow the Winsor & Newton brand. Best, Anthony.

The Wall 8 months, 4 weeks agoHere is the winner of the hand drawn category, using stippling in one-point perspective over six months. Millions of ink dots shape the facade and controlled technique enhances contrast, creating a dynamic play of light and shadow drawing the eye towards the vanishing point.

Agree with Rachael! The precision and dedication is admirable. …

The Wall 8 months, 4 weeks agoBoth Global and UK W&N teams attended the Archisource ‘Drawer of the year’ launch last night at the Truman brewery in East London. We co-sponsored the Hand Drawn award category and the message I took away from Narinder Sagoo MBE, Fosters + Partners judge, was the importance of gathering his collective thoughts in a sketchbook, just simply doesn’t have to be beautiful. The London Creates exhibition is free and running until the 19th July and highly recommend a visit – https://archisource.org/london-creates

Millions of tonnes of clothing, shoes and other textiles end up in landfill every year because very little is sent for recycling .
“The current fashion system uses high volumes of non-renewable resources, including petroleum, extracted to produce clothes that are often used only for a short period of time, after which the materials are largely lost to landfill or incineration. “This system puts pressure on valuable resources such as water, pollutes the environment and degrades ecosystems in addition to creating societal impacts on a global scale.” There are good reasons to seek out alternatives to chucking clothes in the bin – globally the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions, with textile production alone is estimated to release 1.2 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year. Vast amounts of water are also needed to produce the clothes we wear too and the fashion industry is responsible for 20% of global waste water. At the same time we are buying more clothes than ever – the average consumer now buys 60% more clothing than they did 15 years ago. More than two tonnes of clothing are bought each minute in the UK, more than any other country in Europe. Globally, around 56 million tonnes of clothing are bought each year, and this is expected to rise to 93 million tonnes by 2030 and 160 million tonnes by 2050.
"Reuse. Recycle. Rethink — your clothes deserve a second life, not a landfill."

It’s been incredibly exciting to work on the Digital Screen initiative and see the impact it’s already making at LGC. A huge congratulations to Guy for his idea and for the brilliant collaboration – it’s been a real team effort! We’re looking forward to cascading this concept across more key retailers and continuing to drive bold and engaging ways to bring the W&N brand to life. Can’t wait for what’s next!…
Thank you, Anthony – really appreciate the kind words and recognition. I’m glad Chris had the opportunity to see the illuminated headers and the new digital screen in action at LGC. Although I wasn’t on the visit, it’s fantastic to hear how well the initiative landed with our retail partners. Huge thanks to Viktoria for her invaluable support throughout – a great example of cross-team collaboration to elevate the Winsor & Newton brand in-store.…
