The Wall 3 years, 11 months agoYesterday I attended with friends a local Art Club. OMG I haven’t painted since I was at school. It was so much fun but at the same time so relaxing. My head was clear of stress for 2 hours. It inspired us so much that we are taking paints on our girly holiday next month….sharing a few pics and also the company we did it through. https://www.artkulture.uk/ak/

A bit of a change in direction this week, as part of the DEI council in UK /NE I just wanted to share this short video on Inclusion specifically. It highlights how important inclusivity is, and no matter who you are or where you\’re from, biases can come in all forms.
-
May or may not have shed a tear watching this. Thank you so much for sharing, it’s such a brilliant video and brought to light some things I wouldn’t have considered as non-inclusive before.…

Like Francheska, I may or may not have shed a tear …. okay …. tears are rolling down my cheeks as I type this. I am going to commit to watching this video every week until the tears stop rolling down my cheeks. And when will that be? When we are so inclusive that we stop feeling tearful emotions because of our differences, And, that is when those differences are no longer different.
Thank you Ajita, for being brave and proud to post this.…

What a powerful video Ajita – really simple video to drive home the realities of lack of diversity, inequity and lack of inclusion and the real effects on people. Thanks for sharing…

“inclusion promotes belonging, purpose and wellbeing”……a quote from this amazing film and absolutely core to what we mean by Feel Like a Family…..so please join our conversation and tell us where we need to do things differently – https://forms.office.com/pages/responsepage.aspx?id=8vLVpM0MWEGi3vJVGh4usDuAyas5_7VGqKAn_6rVXXVUNFVOSkNFSkVTRVpHMkRMT0pYTTJCSFlRNy4u

good find Ajita and thank you for sharing. It reminded me that I am someone to judge quickly and that this is most times not due to the person in front of me, but about myself, my own patterns and thought processes. I am thankful of the reminder that it does pay off to be less judgmental and more accepting of others feelings, behaviors and characters. Not just at work…

The Wall 3 years, 11 months agoNEW WINSOR & NEWTON OIL DISPLAYS IN NORTH AMERICA (aka “Project Meccano”)
The North American Fine Art Team has begun to install new Winsor & Newton Oil Colour displays for Artists’, Winton, and Artisan – going in to about 140 stores over the next 2 months.
Jasen Sherer, Craig Schottenstein, and I were the guinea pigs installing these displays in Opus Art Supplies in British Columbia, Canada recently. I’ve shared some photos below to see the amazing transformations taking place, often including expanded representations of W&N Artists’ Oil Colour in particular integrating more of the 200mL offering & the 8 new AOC colours introduced this Spring. Thank you to all involved in helping to get these launched! We will share more pictures and updates in the weeks ahead.
Before and then After Photos below of 1 of the Opus’ stores Winsor & Newton Oil presentation.

Looks great Andrew, really impactful.…

As Andrew knows only two well….Opus are a real Gamblin ‘house account’. Not that long ago we were within weeks of losing what little oil business we had left in Opus. After a great team effort, and some true market leading 360 campaigns, we have made some great progress and opened the eyes of the team at Opus to both the power of our brands and the strength our our people.
Whilst there is always more to be achieved, these new Meccano displays are another large step down the right path. Well done and thank you to all involved in this ongoing success story.…

such an improvement Andrew! Time well invested…

Millions of tonnes of clothing, shoes and other textiles end up in landfill every year because very little is sent for recycling .
“The current fashion system uses high volumes of non-renewable resources, including petroleum, extracted to produce clothes that are often used only for a short period of time, after which the materials are largely lost to landfill or incineration. “This system puts pressure on valuable resources such as water, pollutes the environment and degrades ecosystems in addition to creating societal impacts on a global scale.” There are good reasons to seek out alternatives to chucking clothes in the bin – globally the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions, with textile production alone is estimated to release 1.2 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year. Vast amounts of water are also needed to produce the clothes we wear too and the fashion industry is responsible for 20% of global waste water. At the same time we are buying more clothes than ever – the average consumer now buys 60% more clothing than they did 15 years ago. More than two tonnes of clothing are bought each minute in the UK, more than any other country in Europe. Globally, around 56 million tonnes of clothing are bought each year, and this is expected to rise to 93 million tonnes by 2030 and 160 million tonnes by 2050.
"Reuse. Recycle. Rethink — your clothes deserve a second life, not a landfill."
