Its great that so many of you are so on the ball about IT security and phishing frauds. Here is one that was forwarded to me today

This is a classic phising scam, trying to get you to open an attachment or click on a dodgy link in the email.
Here are the bits that tell us its a phishing scam:

    1. If you look at the \’From\’ address it comes from a non colart email address, manish@busitants.com. This is an immediate give away as it should be from colart.com. This of course isn\’t enough as sometimes the \’From\’ address will be ok, but a \’Reply-to\’ address will have also been added with a non colart address. Always check both to be sure.
    2. The next red flag is the subject line where you can see [SUSPECTED SPAM] and [Possible Malware Fraud] have been added by our mail system together with the \’WARNING\’ section to the message. This should really raise the hairs on the back of your necks to the danger. Never open any email attachments or respond when you see this on an email
    3. The final more subtle giveaway is that the email is very non specific, it talks in very generic terms about a medical expenses reimbursement scheme but offers no real detail and also signs off with a very generic \’Colart HR department\’. If it was genuine, there would be much more specific detail.

For anyone who hasn\’t taken the IT security academy course and wants to learn more about this important topic, you can find the course here

In our Kidderminster Reeves boardroom, we have a dusty old display housing some very old Reeves memorabilia.  Reeves was established by William Reeves (1739–1803) in 1766 and in 1974, the company was acquired by Reckitt and Colman, and then merged with Winsor and Newton, following Reckitt and Colman’s acquisition in 1976. 1n 1991 Reeves was purchased by Colart and staff still working in Kidderminster can remember when the painting by numbers were assembled  on our site.   Reeves is still available from our Elephant Kiosk in the UK and  other retail outlets.  Our display cabinet has been sitting under a film of dust so I gave it a Spring clean and was enthralled by what I found: some handwritten price increases from 03.04.1914 slipped into an old price list; artist Stanhope Forbes describing the Reeves “Lawrence Phillips” palette as “admirably contrived” and most poignantly, how our Reeves art sets helped the soldiers during the First World War.  Art has a way of connecting down the ages and communicates in a universal language and I’m sure Colart’s broad range of products are helping those currently suffering to tell their own stories or find some peace away from their troubles.

    • That is lovely Jan – I remember setting up those cabinets in Kidderminster and glad to hear they have had a spring clean.

      • Wow, I bet this brought back some memories for you then Steve, I did wonder who set it up originally so that’s a great bit of background information, I did change the order a bit placing the books in chronological order older ones at the bottom. I was very careful handling them and a bit concerned the condition may be deteriorating. Also avoided any direct contact with the paint materials but I love this little memory corner and hope more stop to look at it now.

    • thanks for sharing this Jan, it is great to see pieces of the heritage of our brands. Something to hold on to !

    • this is a wonderful story Jan, thanks for sharing and reminding us of the universal language of art

Today, a new experience is starting at Colart

Jean-Marc and François, two employees from Le Mans, told me they wanted to improve their English and the idea came to me to put them in contact with other colleagues in the Group to be able to chat.

I then contacted my counterpart at Piscataway, Torkel, who immediately liked the idea and discussed it with the staff on site. April and Amanda responded favorably to the invitation and a joint meeting was held by Teams this afternoon.

This was the time to get to know each other, to define the objectives and also to remember the wish of our two Americans to be able to learn a few words in French.

Appointments have already been made between Amanda and Jean-Marc, then April and François. They will contact one hour every 15 days and after several months they will be able to exchange their partners.

This great experience is fully in line with the Colart Academy and we hope that it can be carried out everywhere through the Colart Group.
