The Wall 4 years agoW&N excited to attend the Portrait Society of America Annual Conference 2022, Atlanta. With over 400 artists attending, and 20+ VIP artists delivering workshops, and taking part in live paint offs. Great to be able to get back out and meet our consumers directly at these shows. We were selling, sampling and talking with the audience, one of our fav TFAC artists Jim Bergersen wasย there demonstrating the new AOC colours and cad free with @ellie_deakin managing the booth sales.ย Lots of opportunity for W&N AOC with this community of portrait painters.

well done Sarah! – engaging with and winning over artists one by one – digitally or through live workshops – agree with the opportunities for W&N AOC …

Great to see Sarah. The new colours appear to be creating quite a buzz and are helping the authenticity story vs in the past sometimes NPD just for NPDs sake….…

The Wall 4 years agoUK Retailer London Graphics Centre has launched it very own Art Prize, with the backing of its owner Theo Paphitis.ย Theo Paphitis, a well-known TV dragon (Dragonโs Den) and retail entrepreneur, has owned London Graphic Centre since 2016, which is also part of his retail group including Boux Avenue, Robert Dyas and Ryman.
Theo has launched this new art prize after being inspired by his customers and how they used art so positively during the Pandemic.
We have fantastic representation of brands in LGC, which was recently highlighted in a townhall by Dennis after a London Store visit with our group CEO Paul Schrotti.ย Great work by @Guy Peeke-Vout continuing to build our brands and our in store stand out. And thanks to @Ivo Matic for the marketing support.
As you can see from the image, as well as the links to the prize page and youtube video, Theo stands proudly by the Winsor & Newton stand for this videoโฆ despite having a large store, it is clear this is the most impressive place to be! (LB is in the background, unfortunately you cant see Liquitex in the shot).
Colart UK are supporting this initiative through some product as part of the prize.ย Minimal spend, but great stand out and partnership!

The Wall 4 years agoThank you Dennis for shouting out our Earth Day Snazaroo email send-out during the Town Hall session today. In addition to Gareth’s amazing post below that brilliantly covers all things Earth Day 2022, I’m sharing below the written overview from our email. It provides a great, brief snapshot of the Snazaroo sustainability journey so far + to come.
🌍 Happy Earth Day 🌍
Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. It’s a journey for us, and we’re constantly looking at ways we can improve, whilst also celebrating what we have already achieved.💚 We minimise all single use plastic, not only in the packaging of our products but also throughout the manufacturing and supply chain processes. Where we must use plastic, we ensure it can be easily recycled and contains as much recycled material as possible. Cardboard will always be our preference and we use FSC certified card and paper everywhere possible. Freight, energy usage and waste CO2 emission reductions are also high on our agenda and played a large part in our relocation in Summer 2021 to a new facility in Minehead, Somerset that runs on renewable energy.💚 We’ve got big plans for our future too – extending our range of Bio Glitter and discontinuing listings of our plastic glitter is next on our agenda for later this year. And that’s just for starters!

Thanks for sharing Gareth – I got 10! It’s horrifying to read that a third of the food produced globally never makes it to the table and something that we can all play our part in reducing by buying less, buying more wisely, freezing food…and maybe being a bit less precious about the state of the food we eat? Bring on the wonky veg (and don’t be too fussy about cutting off any manky bits!)…

Millions of tonnes of clothing, shoes and other textiles end up in landfill every year because very little is sent for recycling .
“The current fashion system uses high volumes of non-renewable resources, including petroleum, extracted to produce clothes that are often used only for a short period of time, after which the materials are largely lost to landfill or incineration. “This system puts pressure on valuable resources such as water, pollutes the environment and degrades ecosystems in addition to creating societal impacts on a global scale.” There are good reasons to seek out alternatives to chucking clothes in the bin – globally the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions, with textile production alone is estimated to release 1.2 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year. Vast amounts of water are also needed to produce the clothes we wear too and the fashion industry is responsible for 20% of global waste water. At the same time we are buying more clothes than ever – the average consumer now buys 60% more clothing than they did 15 years ago. More than two tonnes of clothing are bought each minute in the UK, more than any other country in Europe. Globally, around 56 million tonnes of clothing are bought each year, and this is expected to rise to 93 million tonnes by 2030 and 160 million tonnes by 2050.
"Reuse. Recycle. Rethink — your clothes deserve a second life, not a landfill."
