The Wall 4 years agoAnother triumph for Liquitex BWW by Ffi Farrer- Miles whose beautiful proposal was based on the design elements taken from the Victorian part of Camberwell art college UAL and sought to re-contextualise these small historical features through aย contemporary lens. It was wonderful to see at the opening last night the support of so many former Big Wallers and to hear such endorsement of our materials from both students and the artists that teach them alike.ย What is important about this project is its support for emerging artists in being able to realise such a ambitious projects that would not otherwise be possible. For us it seeds the unique quality that Liquitex brings in its versatility and relevance in contemporary professional contexts.

Will do; with a ten year anniversary and such exceptional projects year on year, it really is worth celebrating. Not least because it does the job where you find yourself discussing the exceptional qualities of the paint for this context with artists and course leaders as a result.…

The Wall 4 years agoNATIONAL TEA DAY
Behind every great country, there is an even greater beverage helping its people through the day. On April 21st, the United Kingdom celebrates National Tea Day, the drink of choice for the past two centuries.
The Snazaroo team joined in the celebrations, however you canโt have a cuppa without cake.
Team members made some superb cakes to share with their colleagues and the non-bakers amongst us went to the local supermarket.
National Tea Day is the time Britain takes to celebrate its longstanding relationship with the wonderful drink. The love for tea is so deep that collectively the UK consumes more than 60 billion cups a year. Thatโs upwards of 165 million cups a day.
With such a wide variety of types of tea that all serve a different purpose from jumpstarting the day all the way down to sleepy time, itโs no wonder the UK has yet to grow bored of their national beverage.-

I raise my cup to you Dave! I’ve never been a coffee drinker so I have a great love for tea. I like a very strong brew and I’m told by Sarah Clark that in the UK that’s referred to as Builder’s Tea, except no milk and sugar for me.…

Millions of tonnes of clothing, shoes and other textiles end up in landfill every year because very little is sent for recycling .
“The current fashion system uses high volumes of non-renewable resources, including petroleum, extracted to produce clothes that are often used only for a short period of time, after which the materials are largely lost to landfill or incineration. “This system puts pressure on valuable resources such as water, pollutes the environment and degrades ecosystems in addition to creating societal impacts on a global scale.” There are good reasons to seek out alternatives to chucking clothes in the bin – globally the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions, with textile production alone is estimated to release 1.2 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year. Vast amounts of water are also needed to produce the clothes we wear too and the fashion industry is responsible for 20% of global waste water. At the same time we are buying more clothes than ever – the average consumer now buys 60% more clothing than they did 15 years ago. More than two tonnes of clothing are bought each minute in the UK, more than any other country in Europe. Globally, around 56 million tonnes of clothing are bought each year, and this is expected to rise to 93 million tonnes by 2030 and 160 million tonnes by 2050.
"Reuse. Recycle. Rethink — your clothes deserve a second life, not a landfill."
