The Wall 4 years, 1 month agoI will follow a bit Toby’s post below.
We are all aware of what is going on in Ukraine recently,
but today I wanted to share few nice & optimistic photos. Here below, you can see few kids having fun with our great Lefranc-Bourgeois Enfants crayons, chalks etc.
Looking at the colorful drawings, it seems that they, step by step, starting to recover from trauma, and enjoy their time in temporary kindergarten in Krakow, Poland.
What is the great news as well, is that while kids are safely having fun, their mothers are able to try to deal with daily stuff, look for the work to earn for life or even help other refuges.dominik.nocon@colart.com – thank you for making this happen and providing nice photos of smiling young artists. You are doing an amazing things here.
Let’s enjoy the weekend and appreciate we are all safe.

The Wall 4 years, 1 month agoI recently came upon a whole lot of plasticine like modelling clay. Having not tried any art for a very long time, I thought I’d have a try to see what I could come up with.
This is my homage to Van Gogh sunflowers, a poignant image in these times of unspeakable tradgedy and injustice in Ukraine.
As a reminder, Colart has a justgiving page which is donating to Save the Children to help support children caught up in conflict across the globe and the business will match any donations made. Details are here:

The Wall 4 years, 1 month agoSome of you will know I am a big fan of the free food Ap – Olio.
It reduces food waste as well as bringing down your household spend on food (very useful in these times of big fuel bills). For example Tesco\’s share their left over food with Olio.
But I was conscious that is was people like myself mainly using it and the truly needy did not make use of it (they might lack a smart phone or transport to go and collect food in the evenings, or their lives were too challenging to make use of it).
I found food banks can not normally take fresh food that is dated the day before, as they can not share it out soon enough, and many already get given it anyway.
But I have found a lunch club for the needy and former homeless that meets very near to me who were keen to be given food. So I have started collecting lots of free food on Wed evenings (mainly bread, pastries, pasties, fruit and veg etc, which do not need cooking facilities to eat), then on a Thursday morning I drop it all off at the club, and the clients can take it home after they have their hot meal, so they have more food to keep them going. Today I took 3 huge great supermarket bags of food and it went in minutes. It was so satisfying to see it go to good homes.
Maybe some of you might find you could do something similar? Its a small step that makes a win win situation.…-

Well done Ros – one of the downsides of many of these programs is the lack of inclusivity due to inability to access or use technology. Your actions sidestep this nicely:)

Millions of tonnes of clothing, shoes and other textiles end up in landfill every year because very little is sent for recycling .
“The current fashion system uses high volumes of non-renewable resources, including petroleum, extracted to produce clothes that are often used only for a short period of time, after which the materials are largely lost to landfill or incineration. “This system puts pressure on valuable resources such as water, pollutes the environment and degrades ecosystems in addition to creating societal impacts on a global scale.” There are good reasons to seek out alternatives to chucking clothes in the bin – globally the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions, with textile production alone is estimated to release 1.2 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year. Vast amounts of water are also needed to produce the clothes we wear too and the fashion industry is responsible for 20% of global waste water. At the same time we are buying more clothes than ever – the average consumer now buys 60% more clothing than they did 15 years ago. More than two tonnes of clothing are bought each minute in the UK, more than any other country in Europe. Globally, around 56 million tonnes of clothing are bought each year, and this is expected to rise to 93 million tonnes by 2030 and 160 million tonnes by 2050.
"Reuse. Recycle. Rethink — your clothes deserve a second life, not a landfill."
