The Wall 4 years, 1 month agoPart 2 of the Winsor and Newton design brief is completed and very beautiful, showing at the UAL Camberwell space created by emerging designers Yishi Yang and Yuanyuan Liu from the postgraduate programme, using Winsor and Newton graphic media for all the design development and Galeria for the final work. Stunning outcomes as were all the other proposals.

The Wall 4 years, 1 month agoHobbycraft UK are running a series of online art and craft classes where consumers can learn a new skill.
The classes are a strategic focus for Hobbycraft in 2022. We are happy to say that we have collaborated on a set of x3 classes with Artists and Illustrators, who have been a proven success with the retailer in the past year.
The first of our classes will be launched on the 2nd April with Artist Emma Block. Emma is a successful freelance illustrator who uses Watercolours in a fresh and modern way. She teaches art classes in London and has written several books on painting:-
* The Joy of Watercolour
* Get Started with GouacheShe has a new book coming out at the end of April called \’Watercolour Life\’ where she gives lots of mentions to the Winsor & Newton brand.
In terms of the classes, once a consumer signs up, Hobbycraft will send out to them a curated box that includes all of the products that they will need to join the class and produce their own creation. There are 25 spaces in the class and each Artist will run a second, repeat class on a different day.
The goal for the future in the coming months is that Stephanie Nebbia will train the Hobbycraft Art Artisans so that they can learn more about our products and reach a wider group of consumers both online and instore.
I have shared the link to signing up for the class here.

Millions of tonnes of clothing, shoes and other textiles end up in landfill every year because very little is sent for recycling .
“The current fashion system uses high volumes of non-renewable resources, including petroleum, extracted to produce clothes that are often used only for a short period of time, after which the materials are largely lost to landfill or incineration. “This system puts pressure on valuable resources such as water, pollutes the environment and degrades ecosystems in addition to creating societal impacts on a global scale.” There are good reasons to seek out alternatives to chucking clothes in the bin – globally the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions, with textile production alone is estimated to release 1.2 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year. Vast amounts of water are also needed to produce the clothes we wear too and the fashion industry is responsible for 20% of global waste water. At the same time we are buying more clothes than ever – the average consumer now buys 60% more clothing than they did 15 years ago. More than two tonnes of clothing are bought each minute in the UK, more than any other country in Europe. Globally, around 56 million tonnes of clothing are bought each year, and this is expected to rise to 93 million tonnes by 2030 and 160 million tonnes by 2050.
"Reuse. Recycle. Rethink — your clothes deserve a second life, not a landfill."
