The Wall 4 years, 2 months ago🟣 Yesterday at the London Hub, we recognized International Women’s Day in an event promoted by the DEI Council – UK & NE and Wellbeing teams. During the event, we enjoyed listening to Steph Nebbia, who spoke about her work and her experience as a woman artist. Juan Prada briefly introduced IWD and the UK & NE DEI council, and Ajita Chamberlin shared some consumer care data that showed that we get more complaints when we feature female artists.
Thanks to all of you who have contributed!

The Wall 4 years, 2 months agoNo sooner do I launch our security training course then we have another attempt to defraud us which was successfully defeated by an eagle eyed member of the Colart team.
Today’s phising attack was via WhatsApp pretending to be Dennis and tried to pressure the person into buying Apple and Android gift cards.
Now we all know Dennis is a complete mobile phone gaming addict spending hours playing Angry Birds, but we also should remember he would never ask an employee to feed his addiction using company money…
PS I may have made up the bit about Dennis being addicted to Angry Birds
PPS If you haven’t already done it, you can find the training course here: https://intranet.colart.com/en/courses/it-security-essentials/…

thank you Toby – my Angry Birds days are over after i was completely defeated by my children a few years ago . . . . 🙂
This is third time within just a few months that something similar has happened. So i really encourage you to do the course on the Colart Academy that Toby is referring to to update yourself on all things IT Security. I did the 20min course this morning and can testify it’s very informative in a engaging way. … -

Thanks for this Toby, I’ll be doing the course next. A reminder that we can never be too careful – and also how clever and personalised these scams are.…

Course complete! Thank you for putting it together Toby! (Also a very believable profile picture of ‘not the real Dennis’ lolll)…

The Wall 4 years, 2 months agoEveryone knows that sustainability is a core focus for Colart, and you maybe aware of or be part of projects across the business. Sustainability isn’t just about Colart and what we do at work, it is so much bigger than that, every Wednesday one of the sustainability team including ambassadors will share a thought or an idea on sustainability or just an observation on how we could all do better! So I’ll go first 🙂 Did you know that on average each UK household spends around £86 to power appliances left in standby mode or not in use. Not only is that going to increase, with energy prices at a record high but it also impacts the environment – unplug your devices, save your pennies, as well as the planet!

Such a good tip Ajita, I have a husband who is addicted to leaving things on standby so I’ll be showing him this! It’s also a useful example of how lots of small, easy-to-implement changes can make a huge impact.…

I only found out about this last year and have actively been doing this every time I switch off for the night. The charger is always the most difficult one to remember. Thank you for this important reminder! (Love the idea behind this weekly series Ajita)…

Great post Ajita, I am a founder member of the “turn off plugs brigade” not only because of sustainability but also from a H & S point of view.…

Thanks Ajita – appreciate the insight and tip. I will now be sure to unplug things like my chargers when not in use – I never gave it any thought previously. Love that the sustainability team is kicking off weekly sharing. …

The Wall 4 years, 2 months agoCoucou! Elephant is now shipped in cardboard envelopes, eliminating yet more plastic from our shipping process. A small but very important step for Elephant on our sustainability roadmap. Merci beaucoup to Vincent Bondoux and his team for making this happen, and as always, getting the magazine out on time to our subcribers, retailers and distributors.

Good to see this. Initiatives like this add up and soon make a difference …

Millions of tonnes of clothing, shoes and other textiles end up in landfill every year because very little is sent for recycling .
“The current fashion system uses high volumes of non-renewable resources, including petroleum, extracted to produce clothes that are often used only for a short period of time, after which the materials are largely lost to landfill or incineration. “This system puts pressure on valuable resources such as water, pollutes the environment and degrades ecosystems in addition to creating societal impacts on a global scale.” There are good reasons to seek out alternatives to chucking clothes in the bin – globally the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions, with textile production alone is estimated to release 1.2 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year. Vast amounts of water are also needed to produce the clothes we wear too and the fashion industry is responsible for 20% of global waste water. At the same time we are buying more clothes than ever – the average consumer now buys 60% more clothing than they did 15 years ago. More than two tonnes of clothing are bought each minute in the UK, more than any other country in Europe. Globally, around 56 million tonnes of clothing are bought each year, and this is expected to rise to 93 million tonnes by 2030 and 160 million tonnes by 2050.
"Reuse. Recycle. Rethink — your clothes deserve a second life, not a landfill."
