    Annual Regulatory Updates 204/24

We’re proud to share that the Artworking Team has successfully supported the completion of the 2024/25 Annual Regulatory Updates (ARU)—a major regulatory milestone for the year.

Working closely with the Regulatory team, as well as the Brands and Manufacturing teams in Le Mans and CTAM, we managed the end-to-end update of product artwork. This ensured all revised labelling content was accurately implemented, correctly formatted, and ready for production in full alignment with global compliance standards.

The ARU 2024/25 project was divided into two phases:

EPD1 – 255 SKUsEU and US product safety information updates, aligned with the EU Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) regulation and the North American Labelling of Hazardous Art Materials Act.

EPD2 – 321 SKUsAddress updates in response to non-compliance enforcement in Italy, specifically for the Promarker and Fineliner ranges. This update—carried out under the General Product Safety Regulation—will help us avoid potential fines of up to €30,000.

    Our key contributions included:

    • 📄 Interpreting and incorporating updated regulatory texts into packaging artwork
    • 🧩 Coordinating layout changes across multiple SKUs and formats, including those shared with other projects
    • 🔄 Ensuring consistency, accuracy, and efficiency while maintaining brand and regulatory compliance
    • 🕓 Meeting tight deadlines across multiple, overlapping submission timelines

Despite the volume and pace of changes, we maintained exceptional standards of quality and precision. This achievement reflects not only our technical capabilities, but also the strength of our collaboration with the Regulatory, Brand, and Manufacturing teams.

A huge thank-you to everyone involved!

Cowling & Wilcox Shoreditch Merchandising Refresh

We recently led a comprehensive merchandising refresh at the Cowling & Wilcox store in Shoreditch. Previously, the store featured outdated W&N units and worn-out headers, occupying only 11.5 bays that were frequently disrupted by competitor products. This significantly diminished our brand presence.

To address these issues and enhance our visibility, we developed and implemented a new, optimised layout. Key aspects of this refresh included:

    • Repurposing two 4-bay W&N illuminated headers, initially prototypes from our UK head office.
    • Utilising refurbished equipment, including five EU inline units, 144 shelf dividers, and three info panel brackets.
    • Designing and installing a new Liquitex Brush display featuring two prototype vertical brush holders and a hook bars for the Mural Brush range.
    • Expanding our display space to 13 bays, incorporating dual-sited sets both within the units and around the store.

This extensive project, from planning to installation, spanned several months and involved close collaboration with various departments to address all aspects, including the creation of new items. The results, clearly visible in the before-and-after pictures, show a significant enhancement in our in-store display, making our brands truly stand out.

    Project Impact & Savings

A notable achievement of this project was the significant cost saving of over £4,800 by effectively utilising repurposed equipment. This strategic approach maximized both short- and long-term returns on investment while efficiently managing our A&P (Advertising & Promotion) spend.

    Team Recognition

The success of this refresh was a true team effort. I extend my sincere gratitude to the following individuals for their invaluable contributions:

    • Planning Stage: Caroline Williams, Lianne Wells, Liza Kindon and her team, Ruben Nunkoo, Charlotte Caton, Francheska Liberman, and Guy Peeke-Vout.
    • Installation Support: Corina Sartore, Eden Cook-Watson, and Guy Peeke-Vout. Their dedication ensured minimal disruption to the store and its customers, allowing us to achieve substantial results in a very short timeframe.

Thank you all for your exceptional teamwork and commitment, which were instrumental in making this project a success.

    • Great work Emma. What a great example of how careful planning and collaboration can make such a big commercial and brand impact and stay true to our sustainability values. Reusing existing equipment not only saved over £4,800 it also avoided waste and embodied carbon. Smart merchandising really is a win-win! Love the new look and the brand presence in-store too. Well done to all involved in making this such a success and a win-win project!

    • Well done Emma and team, what a great refresh of merch display and savings accomplished. Will have to pop in and have a look! 😊

    • Really fantastic work on delivering a refreshed and more impactful in-store presence at Cowlings. I know this was made possible by weeks/months of intricate planning and efficiency on your part. Well done!

    • Fantastic update Emma. A inspiring evolution of our merchandising within a key customers. It looks great!

Thank you to you and the rest of the team making this happen!

    • Great idea to repurpose saving cost and carbon

A TOWN OF COLOUR & WHIMSY

🎨We’re excited to share our brand new W&N mural at Cass Art Islington in London, created by artist Aysha Tengiz using W&N Professional Acrylics (& Promarkers for the finishing touches).🎨

👩‍🎨 Aysha is a London-based illustrator who works frequently with the W&N Global Brand team. She is known for her colourful and vibrant artwork, whereby her illustrations commonly explore silly worlds, filled with a range of playful characters.

This mural focuses on a town of colour & whimsy, and aims to bring to life W&N’s Through the Eyes of the Artist and Cass Art’s mission to ‘fill every town with artists’.

When customers visit the Cass Islington store, they can pick up a bespoke TTEOTA postcard that we created to allow them to take a piece of this activation home with them!

Stay tuned for more behind-the-scenes of this activation in a news article coming soon.
