Thanks for sharing this Jatin – and for the timely nudge for us to keep evolving our content on to new platforms as we plan out the year. The artist community on Tik Tok is huge and inclusive of all ages, demographics and art practices. People are using it as a search tool to find emerging artists and the video format is great for showing the process of work and answering Q and A’s. Creating content specifically for W&N on to Tik Tok is on the list for 2022.…

I didn’t know… but do now. Very interesting! What did google have to say about it?…

funny you should post that Jatin as we are looking to dent “google” even more by introducing Ecosia as our default search platform…as per Robert Rost’s sustainability post …

and to give the right person the credit, this idea was initiated by @stephane-baudetcolart-com in a Think Tank idea https://intranet.colart.com/en/think-tank/use-an-ecologic-search-engine-on-the-web/ and you can read more about it here: https://intranet.colart.com/en/news/think-tank-idea-eco-search/…

good post Jatin and thanks Jo for encouraging us to move on and be sure we follow where artists are browsing, searching, finding inspiration
and Ecosia works all fine – i am using it for more than a a year and i am happy to see more plants being planted every day – for info: Ecosia is build on Google Search technology i believe so we do not “dent” Google so much as you think when we switch… -
Stephane Baudet replied 4 years, 3 months ago
On my side, since I use Ecosia, I made 264 searches and then I planted almost 6 trees. It could be interesting to get the total for Colart !…
-
I also use Ecosia, with no issues at all – definitely worth the switch – 45 searches = 1 tree planted …
-
Toby Russell replied 4 years, 3 months ago
We are ready to roll out ecosia to the whole business so maybe we can aim for a forest in 2022…

Oh my … I had to … no, I “wanted” to watch this video twice as it ignited so much emotion. And the power of poetry to tell a story and deliver a purpose, connecting you into the messaging. So simple and yet so powerful. Thank you, @janebcolart-com, for sharing this. Importantly this is your interpretation and connection to our own DEI purpose at Colart, and that is very inspiring.…

The Wall 4 years, 4 months agoA really nice start to the year with Manyi Takor’s winning proposal “Hidden Identities”. It is well underway for this years Liquitex BWW 2022 . These are some photos taken this week of the work in progress which will be exhibited from the 27th January until the 20th February, at the Crossing
in Central Saint Martins UAL, Granary Square, London N1.
If you remember from a previous post, her proposal, examines how identity is formed by experiences related to the expectations of others. It is a really thought provoking piece, never more so than in these times. It is interesting to see each year, how diverse each proposal has been for this project and reflects the innovative possibilities of the materials. The purpose of this collaboration is not only to support the development of ambitious art work that may not otherwise be possible, but to really engage with emerging contemporary artists. It highlights the potential of Liquitex in this professional context, demonstrating its material relevance from painting, right through to large scale, site specific, public art; always innovative.-
Anthony Taylor replied 4 years, 3 months ago
Hi Steph. Really great to see the BWW continue to go from strength to strength and be able to give artists such as Manyi the platform to express her thought provoking art. Thank you for sharing and have a good week. …
-
Thank you Anthony, the real success in this project is the fact that it really has paved the way for these artists to work, on graduating, in really ambitious professional contexts and the fact that each year, each response to the brief is so completely different, really innovative. We know from artists like Ian Davenport, how seeding the brand at this early stage becomes an essential part of the their vocabulary as they develop as artists.…
-
-
have loved the BWW project for years and would like to go see it with whoever wants to join – ideally with Manyi being with us to explain her art and usage of materials
so @stephaniencolart-com; let’s synch up and find a date to go see it for our own eyes!…-
Thank you Dennis, the private view for this on the 27th of January. Being in the main windows of CSM it is displayed now to the public, unlike its former location, under the circumstances a better venue for a PV. If you and anyone would like to come on the 27th and meet Manyi who will be there let me know this week and I will do a group rsvp. Otherwise, alternatively, I am happy to arrange another date to meet later in February.…
-
-
great Steph – I’ll join you from 18:30 at Central Saint Martins and look forward to see the work and engage with the artist Manyi!…
-
Great and you should all be receiving an invitation from CSM formally too. Let me know anyone, if you would like me to RSVP for you. It will be so interesting to see a completely different response to the brief and discuss with Manyi the intentions behind the piece.…

-
The project of Manyi Takor looks really great … congrats Steph ! I hope we will make it this year to launch our first LQX White Wall un collaboration with Brera!
…-
That would be a fantastic collaboration Flavie, being such a world ranking institution, Brera is an excellent context!…

Millions of tonnes of clothing, shoes and other textiles end up in landfill every year because very little is sent for recycling .
“The current fashion system uses high volumes of non-renewable resources, including petroleum, extracted to produce clothes that are often used only for a short period of time, after which the materials are largely lost to landfill or incineration. “This system puts pressure on valuable resources such as water, pollutes the environment and degrades ecosystems in addition to creating societal impacts on a global scale.” There are good reasons to seek out alternatives to chucking clothes in the bin – globally the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions, with textile production alone is estimated to release 1.2 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year. Vast amounts of water are also needed to produce the clothes we wear too and the fashion industry is responsible for 20% of global waste water. At the same time we are buying more clothes than ever – the average consumer now buys 60% more clothing than they did 15 years ago. More than two tonnes of clothing are bought each minute in the UK, more than any other country in Europe. Globally, around 56 million tonnes of clothing are bought each year, and this is expected to rise to 93 million tonnes by 2030 and 160 million tonnes by 2050.
"Reuse. Recycle. Rethink — your clothes deserve a second life, not a landfill."
