The Wall 4 years, 5 months agoToday I received a wonderful memento from my friends and colleagues at Crown Artist Brush Lowestoft. This month is the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the brush factory in Lowestoft. I am very proud to have been a part of that journey and very pleased to see that the site is still so busy and that the team in Lowestoft are thriving. thank you and well done Team Lowestoft!

Sending and storing e-mails have a significant impact on the environment?
Sending 20 emails a day, for a year, is equivalent to driving 1000 km by car?Email consists of data that is sent all over the world via fiber optic cables and is stored in large data centers. These data centers consume enormous amounts of electricity for sending, processing, storing and analyzing data. In addition, the climate in a data center must be stable and this requires a lot of cooling water, not to mention the emissions, raw materials and water needed to set up the expensive data centers.
Storing emails takes a lot of storage space and because they have to be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the servers are always on. So years after you forgot about that great offer, the newsletter still exists in your inbox and the server is working for it. Long live the cloud!
Check this website to calculate the impact of your emails on the evironment
https://www.cwjobs.co.uk/insights/environmental-impact-of-emailsRemoving emails you don’t need to keep in your online folders or cloud is one of the most simple actions, I guess, we all could take at least. As well as making the most use of our Teams software by linking to files instead of attaching it to emails.
Social as we are, we often send a “Thank you” or a “Great” when someone has done something for you. This causes polution, but fortunately, we now have Teams for that, which allows us to skip that type of emails. Let’s stay social, but a little more sustainable.
If you find this interesting, please read more about it on the web as there are many sustainable steps to take in the same way regarding social media, watching television, music streaming and gaming.
Would love to hear your thoughts and ideas regarding this topic.
Best,
Robert

Millions of tonnes of clothing, shoes and other textiles end up in landfill every year because very little is sent for recycling .
“The current fashion system uses high volumes of non-renewable resources, including petroleum, extracted to produce clothes that are often used only for a short period of time, after which the materials are largely lost to landfill or incineration. “This system puts pressure on valuable resources such as water, pollutes the environment and degrades ecosystems in addition to creating societal impacts on a global scale.” There are good reasons to seek out alternatives to chucking clothes in the bin – globally the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions, with textile production alone is estimated to release 1.2 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year. Vast amounts of water are also needed to produce the clothes we wear too and the fashion industry is responsible for 20% of global waste water. At the same time we are buying more clothes than ever – the average consumer now buys 60% more clothing than they did 15 years ago. More than two tonnes of clothing are bought each minute in the UK, more than any other country in Europe. Globally, around 56 million tonnes of clothing are bought each year, and this is expected to rise to 93 million tonnes by 2030 and 160 million tonnes by 2050.
"Reuse. Recycle. Rethink — your clothes deserve a second life, not a landfill."

I have been at the site for two days and am always in awe of the amazing skills of our brush-making operators at the site – our jewels in the crown – no pun intended!…
What a lovely gift. I loved my visit to the factory earlier in the year and a chance to try making a brush (rather badly!), it was so interesting and Sam was so informative, showing us round.
A fascinating site.…
Happy birthday Crown Artist Brush!
Love the fact that Crown is part of our group and it sounds like a beautiful surprise gift you’ve been gifted Richard. Also a good reminder for myself that without a brush, most art will never be produced… so I can give brushes (and therefore Crown) more of my time and affection. A new year’s resolution? Enjoy the celebrations!…
Congratulations!…
