The Wall 10 months, 3 weeks agoThe participants in yesterday’s Flashe workshop, led by artist Diane Benoit du Rey, were delighted! Their creations stood out for their original, carefully thought-out framing. And, of course, there were plenty of vibrant colours, in keeping with the very essence of Flashe painting.) They were very honoured to do this workshop in the Charbonnel boutique, where Picasso, Pissarro, Degas and many others came to stock up on art supplies at the beginning of the 20th century, and obviously very interested in the history of Flashe, the iconic paint used by Niki de Saint Phalle. Two journalists were present at the workshop, L’Œil and RTL, which will perhaps give us the opportunity for future articles to promote our workshops and the history of our brands!

The Wall 10 months, 3 weeks agoProcurement success: Paper Packaging Transfer Initiative!
Supply Integration
Based on current annual demand, the goal of cost saving can be achieved by integrating the supply. We studied the business conditions and cooperation intentions of all suppliers. Made plan of supply consolidation based on this analysis. It involves paper boxes, cards, etc.
Before the Project: Challenges We Faced
Back card is treated by blister varnish on the surface, and then bound blister onto the card by heating. We’ll get final products with packaging. Due to special surface treatment, we need to consolidate many different cards to reach MOQ 20K pcs. Expiration date of blister varnish is short. Test of new cards are needed to ensure blister & card bounded very well.
Some products have existed for many years, we need to compare golden samples with artwork one by one.
All artworks need to double check with global artworker before action.
Today: What We Achieved Together
New supplier studied existing card and developed improved blister oil. In the meanwhile, reduced production MOQ from 20K to 10K & longer expiration period of surface treatment.
The artworks are updated by switching supplier this time.
To have cost saving by switching supplier.
Back card = -10% on cost – 10.8K RMB saving per year
Paper box = -10% on cost – 62K RMB saving per year
Back-up supplier is our existing supplier, it’s more efficient for us to promote the project. Pre-samples are under process, some of them were validated, had started mass production already. Balanced items will be tested/validated soon. It’s very inspiring!
A Huge Thank to Our Teams!
This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without collaboration of all the teams below:
Brand/Marketing –Marta Tinoco De Faria, Agostina Capria, Clemence Blanc
Engineering and Methods – Bonnie Hao, Michael Sun
Quality Control – Guo Feng, Qin Yongjuan
Artwork & Design – Fatima Kadic
Stay tuned for more procurement efficiency projects coming soon!

The Wall 10 months, 3 weeks agoProject 1 : Transfer LQX brush to outsource and continuous improvement .
Before the Project: Challenges We Faced
Background:
There were 4 sets of LIQUITEX brushes assembled by CTAM but considering the cost and others reasons that CTAM decided to purchase these sets from 3rd- party supplier directly.
RFQ Process:
Phase 1 : CTAM involved 3 suppliers to attend this tender .
Result : Jianghai offered these LQX components to CTAM before so their whole brush samples were approved by Brand. –First whole sample brushes has been approved .
Middle Stage: What We Achieved Temporarily
1: Cost saving purchased from 3rd party : 75KEur.
2:There were some special packaging stocks with14KRmb including printed carton box and printed plastic bags for these brush’s sets. These stocks couldn’t be consumed when all of these brush’s sets transferred to purchase from 3rd- party supplier directly. According to the process at that time, all of these stocks should be scrapped. To lower CTAM loss , Procurement discussed with supplier to help consume these stocks in the following mass production firstly.
Continuous Improvement: What We Improved
Background: After delivered several orders from 3rd-party supplier, CTAM found there had some quality issues with the package, especially for the printed carton box shrink filmed .
Phase 2: To continuously improve the quality issues, we involved brush backup supplier for second sample validation .
Last stage : What we achieved
1.Cost benefit from second round sample validation : 7KEur.
2.Continous improvement : Keep tracking the coming stock quality and make continuous improvement .
Here we would like to thanks everyone in CTAM team to cooperate this work .
Quality control –Hong Liang ,Feng Guo .

Millions of tonnes of clothing, shoes and other textiles end up in landfill every year because very little is sent for recycling .
“The current fashion system uses high volumes of non-renewable resources, including petroleum, extracted to produce clothes that are often used only for a short period of time, after which the materials are largely lost to landfill or incineration. “This system puts pressure on valuable resources such as water, pollutes the environment and degrades ecosystems in addition to creating societal impacts on a global scale.” There are good reasons to seek out alternatives to chucking clothes in the bin – globally the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions, with textile production alone is estimated to release 1.2 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year. Vast amounts of water are also needed to produce the clothes we wear too and the fashion industry is responsible for 20% of global waste water. At the same time we are buying more clothes than ever – the average consumer now buys 60% more clothing than they did 15 years ago. More than two tonnes of clothing are bought each minute in the UK, more than any other country in Europe. Globally, around 56 million tonnes of clothing are bought each year, and this is expected to rise to 93 million tonnes by 2030 and 160 million tonnes by 2050.
"Reuse. Recycle. Rethink — your clothes deserve a second life, not a landfill."
