The Wall 11 months ago🌍 World Health & Safety Day 2025 at DC7 🚧
Last week, we marked World Health & Safety Day with a fun and competitive twist! Knowing how spirited the DC7 crew is, there had to be a dash of team building and a sprinkle of friendly rivalry – complete with prizes, of course!
🧠 Challenge 1: H&S Quiz ShowdownInspired by Eric’s brilliant Jeopardy game at DC4, we kicked things off with a five-round quiz featuring health & safety brainteasers (and a few laugh-out-loud fake answers to keep things light). Points were up for grabs with every correct answer!
🔍 Challenge 2: Spot the RiskNext up, teams hit the floor to identify workplace risks. A few sneaky (but safe) staged hazards were set up, and teams earned points for spotting those – plus bonus points for finding real risks we hadn’t planted. Each team also used a risk matrix to assess the dangers and suggest solutions.
👏 Hard hats off to everyone for getting stuck in and taking it seriously while keeping the energy high. You made it a brilliant day – but in the end, there could only be one winner…
🥇 Congratulations to Team C!With only one quiz question missed and eagle-eyed risk spotting, Team C nailed it with top marks and top effort!
Well done, everyone – here’s to staying safe and having fun doing it! 💪

The Wall 11 months, 1 week agoAnother lovely email from a consumer relating their life experience with W&N watercolors and a shout out to two of the new revival colors.
\”I first started my watercolor journey with the Winsor & Newton Cotman Watercolors – Sketcher\’s Pocket Set of 12 after being inspired by a YouTuber who made me fall in love with watercolor. It did not feel overwhelming to me it was just perfect especially the cerulean blue hue being more worn down compared to others and it helped me start my journey into watercolor.Although I do not have the set anymore unfortunately due to circumstances I still wanted to say thank you for helping me find a way to find happiness in painting and helping me cope with past anxieties or current to help me cope with them and letting me continue my journey.(PS the Ultramarine Ash and Tyrian Purple of your revival set is so beautiful!)I hope that you have a wonderful day and thank you for leaving a wonderful and positive impression on me after many years.\”

Millions of tonnes of clothing, shoes and other textiles end up in landfill every year because very little is sent for recycling .
“The current fashion system uses high volumes of non-renewable resources, including petroleum, extracted to produce clothes that are often used only for a short period of time, after which the materials are largely lost to landfill or incineration. “This system puts pressure on valuable resources such as water, pollutes the environment and degrades ecosystems in addition to creating societal impacts on a global scale.” There are good reasons to seek out alternatives to chucking clothes in the bin – globally the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions, with textile production alone is estimated to release 1.2 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year. Vast amounts of water are also needed to produce the clothes we wear too and the fashion industry is responsible for 20% of global waste water. At the same time we are buying more clothes than ever – the average consumer now buys 60% more clothing than they did 15 years ago. More than two tonnes of clothing are bought each minute in the UK, more than any other country in Europe. Globally, around 56 million tonnes of clothing are bought each year, and this is expected to rise to 93 million tonnes by 2030 and 160 million tonnes by 2050.
"Reuse. Recycle. Rethink — your clothes deserve a second life, not a landfill."
