What is a rigid box ?
Rigid boxes, often associated with luxury and premium products, are made from thick cardboard. They are not designed to be folded flat and are known for their durability and protective qualities, making them ideal for high-end products. They are typically made up of a base and a lid
🔍 Before the Project: Challenges We Faced
❌ Liquitex Vacform Remove project ❌ 1 historical UK supplier + 1 French supplier taken over by a big Italian Group + 1 Chinese supplier (for only 1 box) ❌ No contract ❌ 27 skus
✅ Today: What We Achieved Together
💡 2 French local Suppliers (less than 60km/38miles)
💰 Toolings Cost : 14000€ (vs 25110€) à cost savings : – 11 110€
Boxes cost savings (based on 2024 annual volumes): – 80 000€ (-41% on purchased costs)
📜 Development of Partnership : 3 years contract signed with both suppliers
6 months free storage at suppliers’ devices
6 months forecasts order with 1 call for delivery a month
Technical specifications (thanks to Methods) signed with both suppliers
🌱 Both suppliers are Ecovadis registered
Project to improve sustainable actions (ex : decrease carton weight, rotation of European Pallets…)
✅ Audits have been successfully set up and we discovered with pleasure all the process and organization of each factory. That’s so interesting and inspiring !

The Wall 11 months, 4 weeks agoSupporting Local Creativity Through the Just Imagine Residency
As an extension of our Liquitex Just Imagine Residency Program, we proudly sponsor local studio tours within creative communities—many of which are home to artists from Manufacturers Village.
This year, we were especially proud to support SOMA, which expanded its studio tour to include student participation from the local community. The initiative provided young artists with the opportunity to showcase their work and receive mentorship from established creatives—fostering inspiration, connection, and growth.
It was SO gratifying for the team to have received the note below:
Dear Kim,
Just a quick update on the incredible impact your sponsorship dollars at the StudioTour SOMA have had!
Thanks to your support, over 112 local artists were able to connect with art lovers, sell their beautiful works, and share their creative process with curious visitors of all ages. But the impact goes even further—last year’s Tour helped launch five Columbia High School students as they entered the college admissions process by funding the Pat Bell Memorial Scholarships to the Tour. Here’s one of their stories:
“Being a part of the Studio Art Tour is what helped me truly start my professional career in the arts. I was inspired to develop my own website, create business cards, and display my art in ways I hadn’t before through printing, matting, and framing. Thanks to the mentorship I received I not only sold more art than ever before but built strong connections with local artists and communities. My participation in the Tour has helped me get into SCAD, Pratt and Massachusetts College of Art and Design with a multitude of high merit scholarships.”

Thanks Francheska ! it is made by an italian artist, thanks to Flavie 🙂 , and it is part of a larger project on Flashe Collector Edition : 6 artists came to Le Mans to create their own colour. Among them : the italian artist Agnes Cecil, who has created the “Pink Sakura”.
The launch is currently happening, perfect timing with the blooming sakura trees, so the Window is showcasing this. Clients and tourists seem to enjoy it, and also in shop, the Sakura pink is very appreciated ! …-
Thank you Clemence for your answer! The new Flashe Collector range is fantastic & shows great collaboration with artists. I love all their unique talents and viewpoints. Sakura is my favourite which is why I really love this particular window activation 🙂…

The Wall 12 months agoThis last quarter has been busy in the UK, continuing with the hybrid education and training on all fronts. Earlier in the year, Liquitex onboarding with the Works in the hub and last week continuing with online training, delivering all things Conte to Cass store staff across the UK. It was so well received, “Just to say enjoyed the training, so informative to use with customers… giving me the urge to try …thank you so much for organising these sessions!” With added credibility being able to reference the install of Conte as part of the materials research museum at the UCL and our workshops there.
Turners 250th anniversary has begun at the Mall galleries RIW, with a footfall of 200 visitors a day and 360 on the opening night. It was a great opportunity to show its members the new revival colours alongside other historic reformulated colours, with what Turner’s palette looks like today. It was a captive audience as we showed the POOMP opportunity showcasing all of the watercolour mediums, which for many, was a completely new discovery and welcome introduction for their palettes.
This was following onboarding sessions with Sir Frank Bowling’s studios assistants, having attracted them to the hub to try and convert them to Liquitex. They immediately placed an order including the bio based acrylics which they loved and ordered those too. This wonderful introduction was courtesy of artists who teach at the UAL and appreciate our hands on workshops with their students and understand the quality of the materials we create. If you are in Paris anytime before the 24th May, he has a solo show at Hauser and Wirth. Otherwise, you will find his beautiful work in most major museums throughout the world including the Tate who showed his retrospective in 2019.

Wow Steph… busy times! Great to hear all of this, especially covering so many brands and ranges… From Conte, to Liquitex Bio, to Medium, etc… Amazing Kudos for our brands (and your work!).…

Thank you Steph for delivering very important product training to our retailers, and especially Cass. Your training sessions are key to ensuring we continue to differentiate ourselves against competitors and make our products and brands stand out in store by educating the in-store teams. And great feedback from the Cass team about Conte.
-
Great work Steph! It’s brilliant that you’ve been able to adapt your focus quickly, so that now you’re featuring Conte more heavily in all that you do. Big win on converting Frank Bowling’s studio from Golden to Liquitex too, and to Bio-based no less 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻…

The Wall 12 months agoProcurement success : Label category initiative!
From paint application to digital printing!
For WN, on AOC 37ml and PAC 60ml, for years we were using a specific process for printing the labels. Colart had to send real paint to the label supplier who managed to turn the paint into silkscreen ink, guaranteeing the colour on the label to be the same as the paint inside the tubes.
🔍 Before the Project: Challenges We Faced
❌ Expensive labels, no possibility to amalgamate several labels together in one production run.
❌ internal cost for paint and shipment to supplier (approx. 5000€ / year)
❌ tracking of the paint stock at the supplier
❌ 141 SKU on AOC 37ml + 96 SKU on PAC 60ml – Many references of paint to manage
✅ Today: What We Achieved Together
💡 New supplier equipped with digital printing allowing to amalgamate.
💡 With digital technology we have been able to copy the colours on old labels and print them digitally – no need to send paint anymore!
💡 Use of textured varnish to keep the touch of paint application on new labels to keep customer’s perception! No difference visible between old and new labels!
💰 AOC 37ml = -65% on cost – 27K€ saving per year
💰 PAC 60ml = -69% on cost – 13K€ saving per year
💰 No more internal cost – Saving approx. 5K€ per year
🌱 Project to improve sustainability of these labels – no more manufacturing and shipment of paint – The new process is much simpler!
✅ Audit have been successfully passed by the new supplier and we discovered all the process for making these new labels (digital printing and textured varnish). Very inspiring !

Millions of tonnes of clothing, shoes and other textiles end up in landfill every year because very little is sent for recycling .
“The current fashion system uses high volumes of non-renewable resources, including petroleum, extracted to produce clothes that are often used only for a short period of time, after which the materials are largely lost to landfill or incineration. “This system puts pressure on valuable resources such as water, pollutes the environment and degrades ecosystems in addition to creating societal impacts on a global scale.” There are good reasons to seek out alternatives to chucking clothes in the bin – globally the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions, with textile production alone is estimated to release 1.2 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year. Vast amounts of water are also needed to produce the clothes we wear too and the fashion industry is responsible for 20% of global waste water. At the same time we are buying more clothes than ever – the average consumer now buys 60% more clothing than they did 15 years ago. More than two tonnes of clothing are bought each minute in the UK, more than any other country in Europe. Globally, around 56 million tonnes of clothing are bought each year, and this is expected to rise to 93 million tonnes by 2030 and 160 million tonnes by 2050.
"Reuse. Recycle. Rethink — your clothes deserve a second life, not a landfill."
