The Wall 4 months, 3 weeks agoLast night I went to a private viewing of Fireworks – Small paintings of big things by artist Asa Taulbut. His work is an exploration of volcanic landscapes and explosions and the evening also included a talk by a specialist volcanologist. I particularly liked how he incorporated both scientific and artistic elements during his creative process. If you are in the Deptford area I highly recommend popping into Klose & Soan to check them out, they’ll be on the walls until December! He also mentioned his next pieces will be glaciers, so I suggested he call the whole collection Fire & Ice!

The Wall 4 months, 3 weeks agoNext, we visited the laboratory with Marion, who explained everything that happens before the production phase. This is where the exact quantities of each ingredient are determined to ensure the perfect balance in every formula. She also showed us the tests carried out on viscosity, color, and pH, all crucial to maintain color consistency across production batches. We also learned about the resistance tests that evaluate how paints react to factors like heat, cold, and humidity. It was very impressive and insightful to see the complexity and precision involved in developing each range of paints.
Thank you to everyone I met yesterday for the warm welcome and for taking the time to share their passion and expertise with me!

Participants created some truly beautiful pieces and were delighted and honoured to take part in this workshop at the Charbonnel boutique, a historic venue where Picasso, Pissarro, Degas and many others once came to stock up on art supplies in the early 20th century. The workshop, which was fully booked, took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere.Next event: an introduction to fine oil painting in January, echoing our Giverny Fine Oil Paint campaign, a wonderful opportunity to dare to try this iconic technique.-

The Wall 4 months, 4 weeks ago🌭 Snazaroo Sausage Sizzle Success!
Nothing brings people together quite like the smell of good food! Today we had our annual Sausage Sizzle which was, as always, a huge hit โ plenty of tasty bites, laughter, and great company all around.
A big thank you to everyone who joined in, and an extra shout-out to our superstar grill master Lucy, who kept the sausages sizzling and the rolls perfectly filled. It was fantastic to see team members catching up and enjoying a relaxed lunch together.
Events like this are what make Snazaroo such a great place to work โ a team that knows how to work hard, have fun, and share a good feed!
😄 Warning: these photos may cause serious sausage envy!

Millions of tonnes of clothing, shoes and other textiles end up in landfill every year because very little is sent for recycling .
“The current fashion system uses high volumes of non-renewable resources, including petroleum, extracted to produce clothes that are often used only for a short period of time, after which the materials are largely lost to landfill or incineration. “This system puts pressure on valuable resources such as water, pollutes the environment and degrades ecosystems in addition to creating societal impacts on a global scale.” There are good reasons to seek out alternatives to chucking clothes in the bin – globally the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions, with textile production alone is estimated to release 1.2 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year. Vast amounts of water are also needed to produce the clothes we wear too and the fashion industry is responsible for 20% of global waste water. At the same time we are buying more clothes than ever – the average consumer now buys 60% more clothing than they did 15 years ago. More than two tonnes of clothing are bought each minute in the UK, more than any other country in Europe. Globally, around 56 million tonnes of clothing are bought each year, and this is expected to rise to 93 million tonnes by 2030 and 160 million tonnes by 2050.
"Reuse. Recycle. Rethink — your clothes deserve a second life, not a landfill."

Thanks for sharing this Leena, your reference to his next body of work reminded me of Zaria Forman who works almost exclusively in pastel centred with glaciers and ice-bergs as her subject. Take a look at her work here

An interesting write up on her work from a climate change lens here too

I’ve seen Zaria’s work featured in The New York Times – really beautiful!…
Thanks for sharing Leena; love the use of colour in the paintings. I’m sure these were even more beautiful IRL!…
