The Wall 1 year, 2 months agoDear Colart Team,
As you may be aware, the recent wildfires in Los Angeles, CA have caused significant devastation, impacting countless lives and displacing many families and animals.
In these challenging times, it is crucial for us to come together and support those in need.
At Colart, we believe in the power of community and the importance of giving back. We are organizing a donation drive to support two incredible organizations that are on the front lines providing relief and assistance:
- California Fire Foundation: This organization provides critical support to firefighters, their families, and the communities they protect. Your donations will help fund emergency assistance, victim support, and other vital services.
-
- For more information: https://cpf.salsalabs.org/disasterrelief/index.html
- Pasadena Humane Shelter: This shelter is dedicated to rescuing and caring for animals affected by the wildfires. Your contributions will help provide food, medical care, and temporary housing for these vulnerable animals.
-
- For more information: https://www.facebook.com/pasadenahumane/
We are collecting donations until Friday, 1/17 via Venmo. If you would like to contribute, please send your donations to @ericdrylewicz or scan the QR code.
Every little bit helps and will make a significant difference in the lives of those affected by the wildfires.
Thank you for your generosity and support. Together, we can make a positive impact and help Southern California recover from this disaster.
*Kudos to Stephen Belcher for proposing this excellent idea.*

The Wall 1 year, 3 months agoThis week I had the pleasure of hosting and training 5 new artists in Piscataway for our Winsor & Newton Education Program. It was fantastic to see the energy and excitement that our brands bring to fellow artists. It was also a lot of fun to show them the DC and hear “whoa, look at all those rows of art supplies”! Thanks to Duane Romanell for the photos.

The Wall 1 year, 3 months agoOne of the 2025 objectives for Colart China is to re-launch Liquitex and significantly improve consumer awareness for the brand. We will do this by creating more impactful in-store listings with comprehensive merchandising and in-store communication and navigation, but we will also use the mediums as point of entry.
The first step was kicked off in December, when we organised a launch event in the customer experience centre of our main Shanghai customer YanJun. For this event, we updated the planogram and adapted brand content for the Chinese consumer, and also held a workshop with 12 professionl artists to explore the Liquitex mediums. A live-stream was held on YanJun’s e-store platform simultaneously with 300 active viewers.
YanJun’s Liquitex sales in 2024 grew by 64%. During the event, the sales out were 973 GBP (which does not sound like a lot, but as there were only 12 artists present, this is 4x the normal average order value for events like these).
We consider this kick off campaign to be a success as it not only helped us create a real brand flagship store offline, but also adopt learnings for future activities with this and other customers to grow Liquitex in China!

The Wall 1 year, 3 months agoCTAM hosted professor and students from the CAFA for an immersive practical class which includes factory tour, gaining insights into product knowledge trained by Art educational Advisor and engaging with quality control and R&D teams. A hands-on experience in pigment manufacturing was a highlight, allowing students to mix raw materials and witness the creation of colors. This practical class underscores the significance of collaboration between CAFA and Colart in promoting holistic education. It provides a unique opportunity to blend theoretical knowledge with practical exposure, enabling students to gain a deeper understanding of the art supplies industry and fostering a new generation of skilled and passionate artists.

Millions of tonnes of clothing, shoes and other textiles end up in landfill every year because very little is sent for recycling .
“The current fashion system uses high volumes of non-renewable resources, including petroleum, extracted to produce clothes that are often used only for a short period of time, after which the materials are largely lost to landfill or incineration. “This system puts pressure on valuable resources such as water, pollutes the environment and degrades ecosystems in addition to creating societal impacts on a global scale.” There are good reasons to seek out alternatives to chucking clothes in the bin – globally the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions, with textile production alone is estimated to release 1.2 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year. Vast amounts of water are also needed to produce the clothes we wear too and the fashion industry is responsible for 20% of global waste water. At the same time we are buying more clothes than ever – the average consumer now buys 60% more clothing than they did 15 years ago. More than two tonnes of clothing are bought each minute in the UK, more than any other country in Europe. Globally, around 56 million tonnes of clothing are bought each year, and this is expected to rise to 93 million tonnes by 2030 and 160 million tonnes by 2050.
"Reuse. Recycle. Rethink — your clothes deserve a second life, not a landfill."
