The Wall 1 year, 4 months agoOn Thursday, I travelled down to Minehead to deliver our Leadership Development Programme for Managers and Team Leaders. The day was focused on enhancing their leadership skills through practical sessions and collaborative activities.
The programme covered essential leadership principles, including agile decision-making and fostering innovation. Participants engaged in interactive discussions and team-building exercises, designed to promote effective communication and connection amongst the teams.
Overall, it was a productive day aimed at empowering our leaders to drive success. A big thank you to everyone involved in making the event a success.

The Wall 1 year, 4 months agoToday was the DUO DAY, a national initiative to promote inclusion in workplace for people with a handicap (disabled people) : During one day, a person with disability is welcome in a team, to discover a job, and participate to team life. For the 2nd year, we did the Duo Day and loved it : Timothee, 18 years old, spent the day discovering the marketing and communication job with Marie and Sophiane from Lefranc Bourgeois Brand Team. His task was to show that FLASHE is a super qualitative paint, easy to use on all kind of surfaces, with matt covering properties. Timothee had to paint a old fashioned wood table with FLASHE paint, to prove theses super product characteristics. He chose 3 colors : BLUE/WHITE/RED to illustrate that Lefranc Bourgeois is a paint made in France ! Then he realised a story that was post on Instagram to share his work. He was very proud, and as a team we were very Happy to welcome him. He brought a lot of happiness, joy, and we love to share our passion with him. This illustrates also the Lefranc Bourgeois values: Joy, Daring, Transmission ! Dare to Paint !
Special thanks to Sophiane Bahi and Marie Vincent for their passion en engagement ! And Many Thanks to HR to make this possible within COLART !

The Wall 1 year, 4 months agoLast week Colart UK had the pleasure in attending the inaugural ‘The Cass Art Prize’, which took place at the Copeland Gallery in Peckham. There were 10 highly qualified judges, who had the onerous task of selecting the 12 category winners from over 6500 entries! The exhibition and event was a first for Cass Art and was developed in memory of the founders, Mark Cass, father who passed away recently and was a key figure in the art and creative world (he also ran the Reeves business at one point).
Our CCO Gail awarded the W&N Watercolour prize to the winner Richard Elliot for his work titled Bundestag Library, Berlin. And UK General Manager Anthony Taylor awarded the Liquitex Acrylic prize to KV Duong for his work Family Portrait.
All the artwork was stunning and viewing online does not do it justice..! It is honestly overwhelming to see the talent that participated in the event, even in the Cass Store Staff, SAA Teaching Art Customer and Student categories.
It was a fantastic evening and great to be a part of it. As you can see, we took a large contingent from the Colart family to support. Our support and ongoing partnership continues to be the foundations of our relationship and growth agenda… and as you can see, Mark was happy with our involvement.

It was a fantastic selection of artists and excellent judging panel of contemporary London galleries and curators from Contemporary Art Academy (CAA) to Houldsworth Fine art. The context of the artists really showing what is happening in the contemporary art world. Exciting to see our first Winsor and Newton studio awardee Lexia Hachtman win one of the major prizes having just graduated from the Slade MA. Great to see Richard Elliot who won our prize at the Mall galleries was also one of the winners and who has really identified the term contemporary watercolour. Great to be a part of.…

It was a great event and the calibre of the shortlisted artists was incredible! I’m sure this will come back even bigger and better next year. It was also great for a few of us to spend some time together as a team too, outside of the office/Teams call. Perhaps the Cass Art Prize look and feel was inspired by Mark’s jacket?!…

The Wall 1 year, 4 months agoConcrete decarbonization project in Le Mans :
During our Community hours, we planted 300 trees on a factory’s parcel. We followed the Miyawaki method, which recommends planting very densely 3 trees on average per square metre and combining in each square metre all 3 layers of a natural forest : shrubs, medium-sized trees and large trees. The weather was not ideal but the strong will to do something for the planet was present!
Thank you @coup de pousse for the training and help.

This event was financed by the sale of IBCs in october 2023 and february 2024.
We had too much IBC and we prefered to sell them of Colart employees rather than destroy them.
With IBCs, everybody could be used them like water collector during summer (for plants and gardens) and with this money we were able to finance this action
Congratulations everybody for your participation.

Millions of tonnes of clothing, shoes and other textiles end up in landfill every year because very little is sent for recycling .
“The current fashion system uses high volumes of non-renewable resources, including petroleum, extracted to produce clothes that are often used only for a short period of time, after which the materials are largely lost to landfill or incineration. “This system puts pressure on valuable resources such as water, pollutes the environment and degrades ecosystems in addition to creating societal impacts on a global scale.” There are good reasons to seek out alternatives to chucking clothes in the bin – globally the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions, with textile production alone is estimated to release 1.2 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year. Vast amounts of water are also needed to produce the clothes we wear too and the fashion industry is responsible for 20% of global waste water. At the same time we are buying more clothes than ever – the average consumer now buys 60% more clothing than they did 15 years ago. More than two tonnes of clothing are bought each minute in the UK, more than any other country in Europe. Globally, around 56 million tonnes of clothing are bought each year, and this is expected to rise to 93 million tonnes by 2030 and 160 million tonnes by 2050.
"Reuse. Recycle. Rethink — your clothes deserve a second life, not a landfill."

well done Sharifa – I heard you had some good discussions and it’s great to know the core messages of the program are being positively received and embedded.…
ohhh nice. Well done Sharifa. And whilst it is important for us to visit all our sites and deploy the training to all parts of Colart, maybe next time the team in Minehead can come to London to join training for colleagues in the hub?
I know this means more travel etc. but it would also increase exposure to a wider part of the business? Thoughts? What do the colleagues in Crown/Minehead think?…
Well done Sharifa and the Minehead team. We should certainly investigate possibilities for getting teams from differing sites to meet / work / learn together.…
