DC4 Volunteers at East Jersey Old Town Village

    Sept. 23rd & 24th, 2024

    Day 2.

And here are pictures of the group from Day 2.  🙂

Thank you again to all that were involved in making this a success!

    • Thanks for putting this together. It was a great experience. And looking forward to visiting this with my family now that I know it is there.

    • This is a super cool place with some amazing historical buildings. A potential place for an off-site meeting when we need one @sarahccolart-com

    • Well done Eric for pulling this together and helping create such a great community event for many to volunteer on and use their Colart volunteer/community day. This place is a ‘hidden gem’ right in our backyard. And well done and thank you to all the volunteers. A few of us were unavailable as we were in Le Mans, but will be sure to be at the next one!

DC4 Volunteers at East Jersey Old Town Village

    Sept. 23rd & 24th, 2024

Hi everyone! On September 23rd and 24th, DC4 had the privilege of bringing together two dedicated groups to help clean and maintain the historical buildings at East Jersey Old Town Village in Piscataway, New Jersey. Over the course of two days, our volunteers worked tirelessly to clean from top to bottom, both inside and out. We cleaned windows and windowsills, swept, vacuumed, and took care of grounds-keeping tasks. It was a rewarding experience to contribute to the preservation of such an important piece of New Jersey’s history!

East Jersey Old Town Village, located in Johnson Park in Piscataway, NJ, is an open-air museum that showcases the architectural and cultural history of the Raritan Valley area. The village features a collection of reconstructed and replica 18th and 19th-century buildings, including a tavern, blacksmith shop, schoolhouse, and homes of early settlers.

The village was established in the 1970s by Dr. Joseph Kler and local residents who saved historic buildings from demolition and relocated them to the site. These structures represent the typical architecture of farm and merchant communities in Central JerseyVisitors can explore the village and engage with historical interpreters who bring the past to life through trades and crafts.

East Jersey Old Town Village is also a gateway site for the Crossroads of the American Revolution National Heritage Area and is situated along the Washington-Rochambeau National Historic TrailIt offers a variety of exhibits, living history programs, and seasonal events, making it a fascinating destination for history enthusiasts of all ages.

Thank you to everyone who was able to volunteer and to Ken Helsby (one of the site facilitators) for helping us get this all situated!

Attached are pictures from Day 1. There is a second post for pictures from day 2, as well 🙂

Check out this video of Winsor & Newton partner / fashion designer Aaron Potts utilizing Promarkers and Designer\’s gouache to create sketches for his last show! Aaron also shared the story of how he come to know and love Winsor & Newton products. I\’ve shared a short excerpt below and the full caption can be read here: A. Potts (@a___potts) • Instagram photos and videos

\”…I later designed for everyone from Emanuel Ungaro to Badgley Mischka, Victoria’s Secret, Ellen Tracy, Escada and others. My design sketches/illustrations became my calling card and EVERY illustration that I did was created with W&N gouache! They have been a part of my professional life for decades and are my go-to paint because the pigments are so rich, the application is so smooth and the colors are just DIVINE\”

    Hello everyone,

Tomorrow is my last day at Colart.

I’m leaving under different circumstances, which means I won’t have the chance to see many of you in person or on Teams. But that doesn’t change how much I appreciate and care about you all.

To share a little of that love, I’ve made a farewell video for you.

If you’d like to stay in touch and follow my next adventure, feel free to follow me on Instagram by clicking here

    Goodbye, à bientôt, 再见
