“On My Wall Wednesday” is a fun project that Duane wanted to launch on The Wall, to help promote artwork that we own, collect, etc. that is hanging in our homes.
“It could be by someone well-known, or our child’s work, or our own work! So, any piece that a person feels is special to them can be written or talked about on our intranet site each Wednesday. I hope it is project that people will look forward to engaging with”
The idea was to feature art that we enjoy looking at, that means something to us, and share it with our colleagues around the world.
“I’m sure someone in Europe may not know of an emerging artist in America, let’s say. Or I may not know about a really cool Chinese painter. The whole project is about making the world smaller by sharing art. It’s that simple!”
How do you choose the artist?
For the first post, Duane chose art by Lauren Marx
“I absolutely love the level of detail she is able to achieve in her work. She is a mixed media artist, and her use of color and line to create a mood is outstanding. I also feel drawn to her subject matter, which is usually a combination of the natural world merging with the supernatural, or mystical. I have been a fan of her work for a long time, and I was only recently able to purchase the piece that I feature in “On My Wall Wednesday,” so I was very pleased to share it with everyone”
What’s Next?
“I hope everyone at Colart will support artists by buying their work. Right now is a great time to follow them on social media, reach out, and start a dialogue. I can tell you, that helping an artist through a rough stretch means everything to them, and once you have a piece of their work that you love, it will brighten your home and enrich your life. And once you do hang it on your wall, write and talk about it every Wednesday on OUR Wall!”
