Town Hall Meeting – Watch the video

June 18, 2021 | |

On Friday 18th June, we held the fortnightly Town Hall meeting hosted by CEO Dennis van Schie.

Dennis started the session by sharing his most recent inspirations.  Firstly, a “trending topic” in Europe now. What is it? The UEFA European Championship.  Why is this inspirational? As Dennis said (sporting a traditional orange craze or organjegekte football hat), it brings us back to our nations and our roots. It is a great reason to be together with your family and friends and enjoy time together. His second piece of inspiration referenced Dennis’s current read by author Haruki Murakami, “What I Talk About When Running”. Equal parts travelogue, training log, and reminiscence, this revealing memoir covers his four-month preparation for the 2005 New York City Marathon

Dennis provided us with the regular COVID business update, business performances and highlighted global challenges impacting our business like raw material prices and transportation delays. The Board meeting was held on Wednesday and Dennis provided a positive update. In particular, the £8M investment we will be making in D2C eCommerce.

Our guests this week included UK Manufacturing and Operations Support General Manager, Richard Llewellyn and Quality & Sustainability Manager, Ajita Chamberlin.

Richard spoke of his pride not only in the collation and collaboration of the report making, but the quality of the content and effort from everyone involves. “It gives a really meaningful story”.

Ajita then took us through the main three focuses of Colart’s Sustainability: energy, waste, and plastic. She also shared the fantastic Sustainability Report video with us, which you watch again below.

The Q&A function was opened last THM, and we are happy to see that you are using it.

We received one question and many compliments for the sustainability experts.

Could we take any leftover paint, between runs, and combine to make a neutral gray to be sold in limited amounts? Gamblin does this in oil.

This is something that we have considered in the past. However, we would have to overcome the labelling and regulatory issues as we would not know what was in the paint. We will look into this again and see if it is feasible.

If you couldn’t make it to the live event.
