Town Hall Meeting – Watch the video!

January 10, 2022 | |

On Friday, 7th January, we held the first Town Hall Meeting of the year hosted by CEO Dennis van Schie.

To kick off the new year, Dennis recognised that he doesn’t believe much in New Year’s resolutions but in “incremental games”, changing parts of your skillset to become a better person. After redoing his Quest Profiler* as part of his New Year’s resolution, Dennis decided to improve some of his leadership skills.

His first piece of inspiration was the movie “Don’t Look Up”, recently launched on the Netflix platform. A film that talks about climate change and the importance of acting now. The second piece of inspiration was a book recommended by his daughter, Spring Cannot Be Cancelled by David Hockney, where Hockney reflects upon life and art as he experiences lockdown in rural Normandy.

Talking about Covid-19, he announced that we have a few cases in our different Business Units. He reminded us to have “people-first mantra” as a priority and take care of each other as this new variant is very contagious.

The first guest of 2022 was Jimmy Leslie who talked about Colour, Inspiration and the Origins of Art. He used the Pantone colour of the year as a starting point and showed us how it could be matched with Liquitex colours. He also shared what inspired him to become an artist and reminded us of the importance of sharing and following artists on social media.

Every THM, we see more questions and more comments. Thank you all for joining!

During the THM, Kelly Lyman-Kerekes made a very interesting question, “Is there any plan to mentor or help teens or younger to develop their artistic abilities?” to answer that question we asked Gail Pasquier “As part of the Brand Health “8 point plan” we have said that we need to be more connected with the artist community and part of that will be to build links to young artists, through the educational institutions or other contact points. We also want to see if we can have an internship programme whereby young artists work for us for a period of time, that way we can give them real-world experience. Nothing has been developed yet and any input will be welcome as we devise the scheme.”
