Elephant’s Spring/Summer ’22 Issue Is Here!

March 7, 2022 | | | 1 comment

We are delighted to launch our SS22 issue. The magazine features an original portrait of art megastar Marina Abramović on the main release cover and a dual portrait of Sin Wai Kin and Tai Shani, two big names from the next generation, on our special release cover.

The issue goes on pre-sale exclusively through Elephant Kiosk today. This has proven to be a successful sales model for us for the last two issues, as we have three weeks when the issue first drops when buyers can only purchase the issue directly through Elephant. We will encourage all featured artists to share the issue far and wide on their own social channels, and there will be numerous activations, giveaways and teasers going out on our own socials through March.

These are the biggest cover stars we have ever featured on Elephant. Both covers together give us a great scope across more general art readers who will be drawn to the big, mainstream name of Marina Abramović and those from within the art and fashion worlds who will be excited by Sin Wai Kin and Tai Shani. This is also the first time we have featured a fully styled shoot on the cover, with outfits coming from Gucci and Roksanda (the latter happens to have a strong connection to Winsor & Newton as well).

In the issue, we also feature: in-depth interviews with Hew Locke and Wangari Mathenge; a creative piece which invites five prominent young artists to respond to speculative apocalyptic scenarios; Toyin Ojih Odutola’s regular commission, which features original artwork from the highly celebrated artist; a photo feature on photographing romantic partners by renowned writer Lou Stoppard and much more.

We have a very impressive line up of advertisers in this issue, including new top tier galleries for us: White Cube, Gagosian and Lehmann Maupin. And we are very pleased to be featuring both Liquitex and Winsor & Newton in print once again.

Keep an eye on @elephantmagazine on Instagram over the coming weeks, where we’ll be sharing behind the scenes shots and teasers for the issue.
