Onboarding
Onboarding is a critical process that sets the foundation for success and integration for people joining Colart. It goes beyond mere orientation and paperwork, encompassing a comprehensive approach to familiarising you or a new team member with our culture, values, and expectations. Effective onboarding plays a pivotal role in fostering employee engagement, job satisfaction, and retention. It provides the necessary knowledge, resources, and support to navigate roles and responsibilities with confidence. By facilitating a smooth transition, onboarding minimises the learning curve, accelerates productivity, and enhances overall organisational performance. Additionally, it promotes our culture of openness that allows deeper connections between people and teams, a curiosity that leads to new innovations and a safe environment in which to learn, fail and be our authentic self.
This page provides an overview of the stages of Onboarding. The schedule may vary depending on the role and location however typically should include:
- Preboarding
- Orientation and welcome
- Introduction to colleagues
- Overview of our culture and policies
- Job Specific Training
- Organisational chart overview of team and stakeholders
- Ongoing support and expectations
- Performance Expectations
- Integrations and socialisation within and outside the immediate team
Stage 1: Pre-boarding
The HR team has developed a pre-boarding portal within Splash, enabling you or the new team member to start experiencing our ways of working and connect with our common purpose before the start date. The portal includes welcome video messages from our Chief Executive and People Officers, as well as important new employee documents, ensuring that "day one" and the weeks that follow are the best possible experience we can provide.
Currently, the portal is available in the UK; however, we plan to test and develop new content for rollout to all Colart regions, in the mid-term future.
Stage 2: Induction
Our Induction Schedule aims to set you or the new team member up for success and facilitate integration into our ways of working and culture. The schedule provides the necessary information, resources, and support to become familiar with a new role and environment.
The Induction Schedule at Colart is triggered through a workflow form, ensuring a consistent and structured approach to planning. If you're a hiring manager wanting to kickstart induction, click on the button below and complete the online workflow form. The form covers stakeholder one-on-ones, buddy assignments, IT equipment and services, finance services, and special requests. Once completed, the HR Team will work with the hiring manager to develop the schedule.

Stage 3: The Buddy
The buddy, often an experienced team member, acts as a mentor, guide, and support system for you or the new starter. They help navigate the new environment, understand company culture, and settle you into the role more smoothly. The main goal of a buddy programme is to accelerate the onboarding process, enhance employee engagement, and foster a sense of belonging and connection within the team, as well as the broader Colart network and beyond.
The programme can help you or the new team member feel more comfortable and supported, potentially reducing any stress and increasing confidence. It can also assist in accelerating the learning curve, enabling faster productivity and job satisfaction. Additionally, it fosters positive relationships between employees, promoting unity and connecting to our common purpose.
Stage 4: The Welcome Pack
The onboarding process begins immediately after you or the new team member receives the offer letter and encompasses the entire pre- and early stages of their journey with us. As a crucial part of this experience, we provide a welcome pack that goes above and beyond, ensuring our new hires feel confident about their decision to join Colart.
At Colart, we believe in the power of hands-on experiences, especially when it comes to our products. That's why we encourage you or the new team member to be truly immersed in our brands.
