Colart Data Portal Linked to PIM System Launches for Seamless Product Information Access

Following the most recent announcement relating to the finalisation of B2B Portal project, known as Project Shakespeare, we are pleased to announce a further Colart site launch – the Colart Data Website.

Some Colart people have been working within our Product Management System (PIM) and will be more familiar with this platform. The new Colart Data Website takes PIM one step further, allowing all Colart people access to view and export product data information within the PIM.

Types of Reports

The following diagram details the three different types of reports available in the Colart Data Site:

Types of Reports

What is the meaning of PIM?

PIM is a Product Information Management software that enables users to manage all product information required to market and sell products through Colart distribution channels. Storing one source of truth in multiple languages.

Why do we use Colart data site?

Thanks to our new data site, Colart users can extract the data they require without needing a licence for PIM or using the PIM platform.   This makes data extract, insight and reporting more accessible.

Additionally, thanks to all users in Colart, you automatically become test cases for our B2B trade sites.  This means our future focused plans will enable our resellers to extract similar data types directly, as we intend to launch a similar B2B version based on this site.   The results are a robust value-add platform and resource.

The Colart Data Website:  An evolution

In 2020 we scoped out the concept of a platform to develop data extracts and specific reporting. The project was re-scoped as the Web Development Team’s focus and priority moved to deliver the brand sites now well established.  These included, the new Lefranc Bourgeois website and Winsor & Newton sites.

In 2022, we transitioned the PIM platform from a server to a cloud license. While providing a more sustainable and secure platform, this limited the number of licences made available to Colart users.

The Overlabelling project created a need for a specific type of report for regulatory and labelling attributes.  The report has been integrated into the new portal, providing additional functionality. (If you don’t know about the overlabelling project, then read the news article here: https://intranet-old.colart.com/en/news/eu-regulations-create-overlabel-process-for-colart/)

And this is how we created the newly launched Colart Data Website portal.

  1. Well done to everyone who worked on this. It’s been a journey from the initial PIM-to-cloud project all the way through to delivering this portal to the wider business. Granting colleagues access to the PIM portal not only promotes better cross-functional communication but also eliminates redundant tasks and enhances productivity.
